𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), through Coast Guard Station Northern Quezon (CGSNQ), assisted in the safe return of a missing fisherman from Barangay Dinahican, Infanta, Quezon, following a maritime incident on 29 October 2026.

Mr. Sammy Marcelo departed from his residence for a fishing venture but encountered engine trouble while navigating approximately 0.53 nautical mile off Barangay Cagsiay III, Mauban, Quezon. Due to unfavorable sea conditions, his fishing banca's left outrigger became detached, causing the vessel to drift.
Using a wooden paddle, Mr. Marcelo managed to reach the shoreline of Barangay Cagsiay III, where he was spotted and assisted by a local resident.

Upon receiving information about his safe recovery, personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station Infanta, in coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMOs) of Mauban and Infanta, facilitated his medical assessment and transportation back to Infanta, Quezon. After being examined by the Municipal Health Officer and confirmed to be in good physical condition, he was safely transported to Infanta and reunited with his family.

The Philippine Coast Guard reminds all fishermen to ensure that their fishing vessels are properly registered under the Safety, Security, and Environmental Numbering (SSEN) System and to strictly observe maritime safety precautions, particularly during unfavorable weather and sea conditions.

The PCG remains committed to safeguarding lives at sea through prompt response, effective coordination, and continuous maritime safety enforcement.
