ZAMBOANGA CITY โ The Regional Council Against Child Labor (RCACL)-Zamboanga Peninsula conducted its 2nd Quarter Hybrid Meeting on May 26, 2026, at Kamagong Hall, LM Metro Hotel, Tetuan, Zamboanga City, with representatives from 15 member agencies.
The meeting served as a venue for member agencies to discuss updates, accomplishments, and continuing interventions related to child labor prevention and elimination programs and services in the region. Discussions also focused on strengthening inter-agency coordination and advocacy initiatives in line with the governmentโs campaign against child labor.

ZAMBOANGA CITY โ The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 9 conducted the High-Impact, High Visibility Inspection (HIHVI) Planning and Coordination Meeting for the Construction Sector on May 26, 2026, at LM Metro Hotel, Tetuan, Zamboanga City, with 18 participants attending onsite and 16 joining virtually via ZOOM Teleconference. Representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional- and District Engineering- Offices, Regional Conciliation and Mediation Board (RCMB), Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB), Employees Compensation Commission (ECC), ZamPen OSHNet and DOLE Field Offices participated in the activity.
The activity aimed to strengthen compliance with General Labor Standards (GLS), Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS), and other applicable regulations in the construction sector through intensified, coordinated, and visible inspection activities. The initiative forms part of DOLEโs nationwide High-Impact, High-Visibility Inspection campaign focusing on priority sectors.

๐๐๐๐ | Labor Advisory No. 09, series of 2026 โ Payment of Wages for the Regular Holiday on 27 May 2026 (Eid'l Adha)
In observance of Eid'l Adha, a regular holiday, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reminds all employers to comply with Holliday pay rules.
For employees, this ensures that they are properly compensated during holiday, entitling them to receive 100% of their daily wage even if they do not report for work, provided they are present or on approved leave with pay on the workday immediately preceding the holiday. Those who report to work on holiday are entitled to 200% of their regular daily wage.

A total of 88 workers received โฑ3.69 million in settlement benefits following the successful mediation facilitated by DOLE 9 through its Single-Entry Approach (SEnA) Program on May 22, 2026, at the DOLE Zamboanga del Sur Field Office.
Regional Director Albert E. Gutib personally witnessed the release of the settlement and reaffirmed DOLEโs commitment to protecting workersโ rights and welfare, while informing affected workers of available livelihood, training, and social protection programs.
