The 2nd meeting of the Institutional Quality Circle (IQC) was held at UET Peshawar, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Rizwan Mehmood Gul, Dean FMCIE. The meeting was attended by senior faculty members and administrative officers including Prof. Dr. Farid Ullah Khan (Secretary BOASAR), Mr. Muhammad Zubair (Treasurer), Mr. Muhammad Haroon (Controller of Examinations), Dr. Safdar Nawaz Khan (Assistant Professor, DCSE), Mr. Dil Nawaz (Deputy Director QEC), Engr. Jamal Anjum Fawad (PG Student) and Mr. Abdul Sammad (UG Student). Key discussions focused on the historical development of PSG-2023 which led to the establishment of the IQC at UET Peshawar, as well as preparations for upcoming Review of Institutional Performance and Enhancement (RIPE) and Program Review for Effectiveness and Enhancement (PREE) exercises. The meering emphasized strengthening quality assurance mechanisms, improving documentation practices and ensuring full compliance with academic quality standards.

UET Peshawar achieves International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Certifications
The University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar has achieved a major milestone of international recognition after its Main and Allied Campuses have been accredited with internationally recognized ISO certifications, including ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management Systems (QMS), ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and ISO 45001:2018 for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS).
The achievement reflects the university’s commitment to attaining world-class standards in academic governance, operational efficiency, environmental management and workplace safety across all its campuses.
The Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak congratulated the faculty, officers, staff and students on this landmark accomplishment and termed it a significant step towards transforming UET Peshawar into a globally competitive institution aligned with international quality standards. He said that the ISO certifications would further strengthen institutional governance, continuous improvement mechanisms, stakeholder confidence and service delivery within the university system.

A high-level German delegation visited University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar the other day to discuss cooperation in sustainable construction, energy-efficient buildings, renewable energy and climate-resilient urban development.
The delegation led by H.E. Ina Lepel, Ambassador Federal Republic of Germany to Pakistan included Ms. Mirjam Buedenbender-Bucholz, Head of German Development Cooperation, Ms. Maria Poddey, Country Director GIZ; and Mr. Wolfgang Hesse, Cluster Coordinator for Energy and Climate Change, Mr. Alexander Fischer, Senior Technical Advisor and Mr. Muhammad Irshad Khan, Project Head – Energy Efficiency Project.
Dr. Muhammad Israr Khan, Secretary Higher Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlighted the long-standing partnership between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the German government through Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). He emphasized the need to identify wind corridors in the province and proposed stronger engagement between UET Peshawar’s technical teams and German institutions in the wind energy sector.
Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak, Vice Chancellor, UET Peshawar welcomed the delegation and assured full cooperation in strengthening academic, technical, and development partnerships for the benefit of the province. He further emphasized the importance of research, innovation and sustainable construction practices in addressing climate and energy challenges.
Dr. Naveed Ahmed, Director Buildings Energy Research Center (BERC), UET Peshawar briefed the delegation on Buildings Energy Research Center (BERC) performance in promoting energy-efficient and climate-responsive construction practices in Pakistan. He highlighted BERC’s role in supporting the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) 2024 and revising building by-laws for the Peshawar Development Authority and Capital Development Authority to incorporate energy efficiency measures.
The delegation also visited BERC, Gems and Jewelry Center of Excellence, Earthquake Engineering Center and Material Testing Lab, Department of Civil Engineering where they observed collaboration between academia, industry, and development partners to improve energy performance in the building sector.

The Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak paid a cordial visit to the office of the Engineering Universities Teachers Association (EUTA) where he was warmly received by President Feroz Shah, Secretary Dr. Atif Sardar and members of the EUTA cabinet. During the meeting, the EUTA cabinet congratulated Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak on the successful completion of his first year in office and appreciated his efforts towards academic development, institutional reforms, and improved engagement with faculty members. The meeting was held in a positive and constructive atmosphere, during which both sides exchanged views on matters relating to faculty welfare, academic excellence, research promotion, and institutional progress. Various issues faced by faculty members were also discussed in detail. The faculty assured the Vice Chancellor of their full cooperation and support in achieving the shared goal of academic growth, institutional stability, and excellence at the university. Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak thanked the EUTA leadership and faculty members for their confidence and reaffirmed his commitment.

A delegation from UET Lahore, led by Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir (TI), Vice Chancellor, UET Lahore visited UET Peshawar and met Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak, Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar, here today. The visit was carried out as part of the directives of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to engage with leading public sector engineering universities across Pakistan and identify academic and research challenges being faced by the engineering sector and propose collaborative reforms to HEC.
During the visit, the delegation held detailed discussions with the university leadership and faculty members to present challenges and suggestions for substantial the improvement in engineering education. The meeting focused on curriculum modernization and benchmarking the engineering degree programs with international universities, strengthening academia-industry linkages, integration of artificial intelligence and soft skills as part of faculty development programs, promotion of entrepreneurship among students, and creation of funding opportunities for researchers, particularly seed funding for patent-oriented projects initiated by the universities.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak emphasized the urgent need for seed funding to support innovation, patent development and knowledge creation in engineering universities. He stated under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government’s Good Governance Roadmap, UET Peshawar had convened a comprehensive exercise to identify universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and cluster them according to their patenting potential. He added that the initiative was aimed at developing a coordinated research and innovation ecosystem in the province by connecting institutions with similar strengths and research capacities, enabling them to work collaboratively on applied research, commercialization, and technology-driven solutions.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak, and Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of senior management and faculty members. Through this MoU both universities will work jointly to promote joint research initiatives, academic exchanges, and training programs, as well as the joint organization of conferences, seminars, workshops, and research projects to foster innovation and address contemporary technological challenges through indigenous solutions.
Later, the delegation visited the Gems and jewelry Center of Excellence, State-of-the-Art Lab (Chemical Engineering Department) and Earthquake Engineering Center. Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak also presented souvenirs to Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, VC UET Lahore and his team.
