Two young graduates of UET Peshawar, Engr. Ramal Abdullah (Abbottabad Campus) and Engr. Shakir Ullah Khan (Bannu Campus) have each received a cash award of Rs. 200,000 from Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) in recognition of their outstanding academic performance. The recognition reflects UET Peshawar's commitment to nurturing academic talent and creating opportunities for its graduates through strong partnerships with leading industries. The university's agreement with SNGPL to strengthen industry–academia collaboration is an evidence of strong commitment in promoting professional growth and recognizing the potential of young engineers. The awards were presented by Engr. Waseem Iqbal, Executive Engineer, SNGPL in the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak, who appreciated the students’ achievements and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence. Dr. Shahzad Khan Khattak, Director Undergraduate Studies and other senior officials were also present on the ocassion.

UET Peshawar Inaugurates Hydrostatic Pressure Testing Facility in collaboration with SNGPL.

UET Peshawar has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Hydrostatic Pressure Testing Facility at its Department of Agricultural Engineering, established with the support of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL).

The lab will provide hydrostatic pressure testing and third-party validation of uPVC and HDPE pipes, supporting quality assurance in water supply and irrigation infrastructure projects. It will also strengthen practical learning, academic research, consultancy and professional testing services.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak appreciated SNGPL's support and highlighted the importance of industry-academia collaboration in advancing innovation and applied research. Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq, Chairman Department of Agricultural Engineering, briefed participants on the facility's technical capabilities and academic and commercial potential. Engr. Waseem Iqbal, Executive Engineer SNGPL assured to support the university to enhance capacity building of researchers.

The inauguration was attended by senior university officials including Directors and faculty members.

Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak, Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar and the Chairman Khyber Pakhtunkhwa VCs Forum participated in the Vice Chancellors’ Conference on Academics, Governance and Financial Issues of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Universities.

Advisor to the Governor on Higher Education, Dr. Syed Aamer Abdullah, was the chief guest. Secretary Higher Education, Mr. Abid Ullah Kakakhel, officials of the Higher Education Department, and Vice Chancellors of public sector universities also attended the conference.

During the conference, Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak emphasized the need for strengthening institutional governance, ensuring financial sustainability, and improving administrative efficiency. He highlighted that universities must adopt multi-year financial planning, ensure prudent resource utilization, exercise expenditure discipline, and strengthen financial controls to achieve long-term institutional stability.

He stressed that financial sustainability requires diversifying institutional income through applied research, consultancy services, industry partnerships, professional training, and technology transfer. He further underscored the importance of effective financial management, transparent procedures, and accountability to ensure that available resources are utilized efficiently and contribute to improved academic quality and institutional performance. He maintained that public sector universities must continue to provide accessible, quality education and advance knowledge for societal benefit, and that financial challenges should not be addressed by placing an unreasonable financial burden on students and their families.

He also highlighted the importance of stronger industry-academia linkages to promote relevant curricula, practical training, internships, entrepreneurship, innovation, technology transfer, and graduate employability.

یو ای ٹی پشاور کا 46واں یومِ تاسیس (فاؤنڈیشن ڈے)، معیاری تعلیم کے عزم کی تجدید

یونیورسٹی آف انجینئرنگ اینڈ ٹیکنالوجی پشاور نے اپنا 46واں یومِ تاسیس (فاؤنڈیشن ڈے) جوش و جذبے کے ساتھ منایا۔ اس موقع پر وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر صادق خٹک، سینئر انتظامی و تدریسی قیادت، اساتذہ، طلبہ اور ملازمین نے جامعہ کی علمی روایات، تحقیقی خدمات اور قومی ترقی میں کردار کو خراجِ تحسین پیش کیا۔واضح رہے کہ یو ای ٹی پشاور کا قیام 1952ء میں بطور انجینئرنگ کالج عمل میں آیا، جبکہ 23 اکتوبر 1980ء کو اسے یونیورسٹی کا درجہ دیا گیا۔

وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر صادق خٹک نے شرکاء کو مبارکبا ددیتے ہوئے کہا کہ 23اکتوبر کا دن ہمارے لئے نہایت اہمیت کا حامل ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ یو ای ٹی پشاور خیبر پختونخوا کی اولین جامعات میں سے ایک ہے جس نے معیاری انجینئرنگ تعلیم، تحقیق اور ٹیکنالوجی کے فروغ میں نمایاں کردار ادا کیا ہے۔ انہوں نے اس عزم کا اظہار کیا کہ جامعہ کی علمی و تحقیقی استعداد کو مزید مستحکم کرتے ہوئے جدت اور ترقی کے نئے مواقع پیدا کیے جائیں گے۔وائس چانسلر نے اساتذہ، طلبہ اور انتظامی عملے پر زور دیا کہ وہ مشترکہ ذمہ داری، ادارہ جاتی وابستگی اور پیشہ ورانہ لگن کے ذریعے جامعہ کے تعلیمی معیار، تحقیقی سرگرمیوں اور بین الاقوامی ساکھ کو مزید بہتر بنانے میں اپنا کردار ادا کریں۔

Retired Professors and Officials Appreciate UET Peshawar’s Financial Progress

A tea gathering with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak was held on October 27, 2026 that brought together retired professors and administrative officials to acknowledge the University’s recent financial progress and appreciate the steps taken to clear outstanding dues. The gathering also provided an opportunity for 53 pensioners who had recently received their pension and commutation payments, to express their gratitude and pay tribute to the Vice Chancellor and the Finance team for clearing their dues.

Representing the pensioners, Prof. Dr. Noor Muhammad, former Vice Chancellor appreciated these efforts and reaffirmed their continued support for the Vice Chancellor’s leadership and the University’s progress. He also presented books on Seerah(PBUH) to the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Arif Khattak and Muhammad Zubair, Treasurer in recognition of their support and commendable performance.

Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak acknowledged the contributions of the Finance team and appreciated their efforts in strengthening the University’s financial position and resolving long-standing financial commitments. He urged the participants to place their trust in Allah and continue working collectively towards a better future for the University. “Leave your matters to Allah and trust that His blessings will follow, he remarked.

UET Peshawar Observes Kashmir Black Day with Solidarity Walk

The University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, observed Kashmir Black Day by organizing a solidarity walk on campus to express support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and their legitimate right to self-determination.

The walk was led by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak. The Vice Chancellor reaffirmed the university’s solidarity with the Kashmiri people and emphasized their right to self-determination and a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

Dr. Khizar Azam, Registrar, UET Peshawar, along with faculty members, staff, and students, participated in the event who highlighted the historical significance of October 27, 1947, when Indian forces entered Jammu and Kashmir, and called for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and relevant United Nations resolutions.

UET Peshawar, PDMA Join Hands to Promote Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilient Infrastructure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

UET Peshawar and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to strengthen collaboration in engineering, scientific research, disaster risk reduction and resilient infrastructure development across the province. The signing ceremony was chaired by Prof. Dr. Rizwan Mahmood Gul, Senior Dean, UET Peshawar. Facilitated through Earthquake Engineering Center (EEC), the partnership aims to translate scientific knowledge and engineering expertise into practical solutions for disaster management. Key areas of collaboration include joint research, hazard and risk assessments, engineering consultancy, capacity building, and promotion of safer construction practices to protect communities against earthquakes, floods, landslides and other natural hazards.

Prof. Dr. Khan Shahzada, Director EEC, appreciated the leadership and support of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak in promoting research and institutional collaboration. He said the EEC was actively developing rapid building-screening tools to identify vulnerable structures and preparing stone masonry construction guidelines to promote safer, earthquake-resistant buildings. Engr. Sajid Imran, Director Rehabilitation, PDMA, highlighted the importance of the collaboration in strengthening flood risk management, hazard mapping, disaster preparedness and technical capacity building in the province.

Meanwhile, a practical manual titled Stone Masonry Guidelines for Pakistan, jointly developed by EEC, PDMA and the China-Pakistan Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Infrastructures, was also launched on the occasion. The manual presents practical steps and protocols for design and construction of stone masonry structures focusing on seismic safety and structural durabilitywith an aim to make essential engineering guidance accessible to construction professionals, builders and local communities,particularly in hazard-prone areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and across Pakistan.

UET Peshawar VC Distributes Cheques among 53 Pensioners

Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak, Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar distributed cheques among 53 pensioners including faculty and administrative cadres at a cheque distribution ceremony held here today. While addressing the gathering Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak reaffirmed the university’s commitment to clearing outstanding financial liabilities and ensuring financial sustainability. Following the release of a government grant last week, he had directed the settlement of pension liabilities amounting to Rs. 247 million. He also highlighted the disbursement of Rs. 11.162 million among 115 beneficiaries under the Benevolent Fund. He appreciated the Finance Department’s efforts to resolve liabilities accumulated over the past three to four years. UET Peshawar is the first university among the 32 public sector universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to clear its outstanding pension liabilities.

Mr. Muhammad Zubair, Treasurer UET Peshawar, briefed the participants on the university’s financial position and ongoing efforts to settle outstanding obligations. He reported that the budget deficit of Rs. 362 million reflected in the 2025–26 budget had been covered, while a surplus of Rs. 56 million was recorded at the close of the financial year.

Mr. Inayat Ullah, President UET Employees Welfare Association, appreciated the Vice Chancellor’s leadership, stating that UET Peshawar had resolved the longstanding issue of pending pension liabilities ahead of other public sector universities in the province. Prof. Dr. Noor Muhammad, former Vice Chancellor (Rtd.), also lauded the efforts, expressing his deep attachment to the institution. He said it had been his dream to see retired pensioners honored at a single forum and expressed pride in witnessing the ceremony.

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak, who is also the Faculty Advisor of the ASHRAE UET Peshawar Chapter, graced ASHRAE Chill Fest 2026, an interactive event aimed at welcoming new members and promoting friendship, teamwork and networking among students.

Addressing the participants, Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation in shaping the future of youth. He emphasized that young engineers must develop creative thinking, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial skills to transform innovative ideas into practical solutions, create employment opportunities, and contribute to national development. He also stressed the role of student societies in nurturing leadership and professional growth.

The event was organized by the society’s cabinet, including President Umar Ahmad, Vice Presidents Atta Ur Rafay Khan and Sooban Waheed, and General Secretary Muhammad Majeed, whose efforts contributed to its success.

Qari Abdur Rauf Madani Meets UET Peshawar Vice Chancellor

Renowned religious scholar Qari Abdur Rauf Madani called on Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak. During the meeting, they exchanged views on matters of mutual interest. Qari Abdur Rauf Madani also presented a copy of his book, “Jamal-e-Khair-ul-Wara (S.A.W.)”, to the Vice Chancellor, who appreciated the gesture and acknowledged his valuable contribution to religious and scholarly discourse.
