Welcome to the official NUS Overseas Colleges (NOC), a programme of NUSX - the entrepreneurial heart of NUS! Watch this space for exciting updates!

At NUS Overseas Colleges (NOC), selected students will get to work at leading entrepreneurial hotspots across the globe – Beijing, Israel, Nagoya, New York, SE Asia, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Silicon Valley, Singapore, Stockholm and Toronto – while taking classes at our renowned partner universities like Stanford University and Tsinghua University. Our programmes run between three to twelve months for firsthand insight into innovative start-ups, to experience the challenges faced by the founders and launch your next big idea. That’s why the NOC programme isn’t just another internship, it’s an experience of a lifetime. We are home to over 3,000 NOC alumni who have founded close to 700 start-ups globally.

Meet three NOC alumni ventures turning bold ideas into real-world impact:

⚡ Ecovolt — Co-founded by Eugene Chia, Glenn Quah and Raphael Chew, Ecovolt is making buildings smarter and greener through AI-powered energy management solutions.

🤖 Cortex AI — Founded by Lucas Ngoo, Cortex AI is advancing robotics by building large-scale, real-world data to train the next generation of intelligent machines.

🏭 Factorem — Co-founded by Alexandra Zhang and Hardik Dobariya, Factorem is simplifying custom manufacturing by connecting hardware innovators with manufacturing capabilities across markets.

From sustainable energy to embodied AI and smarter manufacturing, these founders exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit nurtured by NOC. 🌏

Congratulations to NOC Alumnus Vishnu Saran, CEO and Co-founder of Technologies, for clinching 1st place in the AI for Energy category at the Energy Tech Challengers competition, held as part of Energy Tech Summit Asia 2026! 🎉

Through AI-powered video analytics, Invigilo is transforming workplace safety by helping businesses identify risks, prevent accidents and create safer environments across high-risk industries. This latest recognition highlights the growing potential of AI to drive meaningful impact in the energy sector.

Yay 🙌 another great news from !

Congrats to Lightsage’s founders, Jun Liang Lee and Sean Er on raising US$4 million in funding, led by Nexus Venture Partners, to build the growth stack for a rapidly emerging class of customers: AI agents. As agents such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor increasingly discover products, select tools and integrate software on users’ behalf, Lightsage is helping companies rethink how they reach and serve this new audience. 🚀💯

We’re proud to see our NOC alumni pushing the boundaries of how businesses will grow in an AI-first world and exciting journey ahead for them and Lightsage team! We can’t wait to see what’s next! 🎉

💡 What starts as a meeting while on NOC can sometimes grow into something much bigger

NOC Alumni Kyle Lao and Immanuella Indradjaja first crossed paths while on the NOC programme in Silicon Valley, where they were interning at the same biotechnology company. A hackathon sparked an idea that they continued pursuing after NOC — eventually leading them to co-found MenSC Labs, a Singapore femtech start-up exploring an unconventional but promising frontier: stem cells derived from menstrual blood.

Today, is working to make menstrual blood-derived stem cells a practical and scalable source for regenerative medicine, with the longer-term ambition of developing treatments for women-specific conditions such as Asherman’s Syndrome and premature ovarian insufficiency. Their research-use stem cells are already being used by more than 10 laboratories across Singapore, Australia and the US.

From meeting through NOC to building at the intersection of biotechnology, entrepreneurship and women’s health, Kyle and Immanuella’s journey is a great example of how shared experiences, unexpected ideas and the right connections can turn into meaningful innovation🚀 We’re excited to see where the MenSC Labs team takes this next!

Congratulations to , co-founded by NOC alumnus Rishab Patwari, on raising US$6 million in Series A funding! Led by Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India, with participation from Fareast Land Development (Farglory Group) and Rigel, the round marks an exciting new chapter for the Singapore robotics startup.

As Co-Founder and CEO, Rishab is leading Hivebotics’ mission to transform facilities management through robotics. Its autonomous cleaning robot, Abluo, is already taking on one of the industry’s most labour-intensive tasks — restroom cleaning — with nearly 10,000 operating hours across more than 20 sites in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America.

From an entrepreneurial journey shaped by NOC to building solutions with global reach, we’re proud to see Rishab and the Hivebotics team pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Onward and upward for the team! 🤖🌏

💡 “Practical and in tune with real-life challenges.”
That was how Minister for Health and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies Ong Ye Kung described ideas and prototypes like WhatsApp Companion — an innovation co-developed by NOC alumnus Zacchaeus Chok, co-founder of Marymount Labs.

Powered by AI, WhatsApp Companion is a smart messaging system designed to engage less active seniors through personalised health check-ins, activity recommendations and gentle nudges to encourage participation in community activities. Developed in partnership with Tzu Chi Foundation, the solution has engaged around 700 seniors across two Active Ageing Centres, contributing to a 50% increase in programme participation since its introduction - a strong affirmation of how technology, when grounded in genuine community needs, can translate into meaningful social impact.

At NOC, we’re proud to see alumni like Zacchaeus taking an entrepreneurial approach to solving real-world challenges and building solutions that make a difference. Congratulations to Zacchaeus and the Marymount Labs team! 🚀

🍪💙 With this blue box, what's Monday blues?

Known for their chunky, gooey cookies made with premium ingredients, Whiskdom has become a beloved local brand that many Singaporeans turn to when they need a little pick-me-up. And what better day than Monday to enjoy one?

We're especially proud because behind Whiskdom is Fiona Loh, founder of Whiskdom and also an NOC alumna. What started as an entrepreneurial idea during COVID-19 has grown into a thriving business loved by thousands today with more than a million cookie sold in just the past five years. Taking the leap from her corporate career to pursue Whiskdom full-time, and transforming a passion project into a recognised homegrown brand is indeed applaudable.
