New Hope Community Services A social service agency in Singapore working to restore hope to the displaced and disadvantaged. A year later, New Hope Community Services (NHCS) was born.

Our work first began in 2003 when four homeless men approached Pastor Andrew (our Founder & CEO) seeking refuge. We currently run four transitional shelters around Singapore and provide various services and programmes that help our clients break out of the poverty cycle and achieve long term financial resilience and independence. Our Vision:

Community Evening at New Hope

We recently collaborated with 17 student volunteers from NUS College of Alice & Peter Tan to New Hope @ YCK for an evening of activities and interaction with our residents.

While the students organised a series of games and spent time chatting with our residents, creating opportunities for everyone to get to know one another and share conversations along the way. The evening also gave our YCK team the opportunity to share more about New Hope's services and the support we provide to our residents. The students showed curiosity and asked thoughtful questions during the sharing, allowing for an engaging exchange and a deeper understanding of the work we do.

A big thank you to all 17 student volunteers for taking the time to spend the evening with our residents, and the New Hope team for making this session possible.

We hope the evening has given the students a closer look at the work we do and the importance of building connections within the community.

From receiving hope to giving hope.

Some of the most powerful stories are those that remind us that our circumstances do not define our future, and that with the right support, a second chance is always possible.

Meet Salleh, whose journey with New Hope Community Services has come full circle.

Having faced challenges in his past, Salleh found support and a new beginning through New Hope. Today, for nearly 14 years, he has dedicated himself to supporting others experiencing homelessness and navigating difficult circumstances.

Having experienced firsthand what it means to receive support when it matters most, Salleh understands how much of a difference a helping hand can make. His journey has inspired him to pay it forward — to be there for others who may be facing similar challenges and to help them find the same hope, encouragement and opportunities that once helped him rebuild his life.

This is why Salleh has chosen to take part in SleepOut SG 2026 as a fundraiser. For him, it is more than just raising funds. It is a personal commitment to ensuring that others who are experiencing homelessness have access to the support they need to rebuild their lives and work towards a brighter future.

Walking together for more inclusive employment!

On 1 November, New Hope Community Services was glad to be part of EmployWell: Walk for Work 2026, organised by the Singapore Business Federation Foundation ( ) in conjunction with the Istana Open House.

It was a meaningful day of bringing the community together to raise awareness and support employment opportunities for vulnerable individuals. Our team joined the walk and took part in the event activities, connecting with fellow community partners and members of the public who share a common commitment to building a more inclusive workforce.

We also took the opportunity to share some of our clients' success stories, celebrating the progress they have made and the milestones they have achieved through employment. Behind every success story is the dedication of our Employment Services team, who work tirelessly behind the scenes to provide guidance, connect clients with suitable employers, build their skills and support them as they navigate the workplace.

Through our partnership with SBFF, New Hope's Employment Services serves as a bridge between employers and our beneficiaries. We provide job-matching and skills-training services, while reaching out to potential employer partners to create more employment opportunities for those we support.

We are grateful to SBFF for organising this initiative and bringing together organisations, businesses and the community to champion purposeful employment.

✨ Introducing Partners of Hope — a series spotlighting the organisations that partner with New Hope Community Services to make a meaningful difference in the lives of displaced and disadvantaged individuals and families.

Meet our Partner of Hope: Sunray Woodcraft Construction Pte Ltd

For Sunray, partnering with New Hope isn’t just another CSR activity. The team wanted to support something they genuinely felt connected to and where they could help in a practical way. There was also a very natural connection because Sunray is in the business of creating spaces. Most importantly, it has taught them that homelessness goes beyond having no place to sleep, there can also be family issues, financial stress, employment problems, and many other challenges behind it. It has helped them see the person first, instead of only seeing the situation they are in.

Building digital skills, one step at a time 💻📱

Our Basic Computer & Mobile Apps Training Programme at SRSF has come to a wrap!

Through this programme, our residents had the opportunity to learn essential computer skills, explore useful mobile applications and gain exposure to Generative AI (GenAI).

Led by our Employment Services (ES) team, the programme reflects our commitment to equipping residents with practical skills that can support their personal development and future employment opportunities. Through these learning opportunities, we hope to help our residents build confidence in navigating an increasingly digital world.

Beyond learning new technical skills, every new skill gained is a step towards greater confidence, independence and new possibilities.

That’s a wrap on HLF 2026!

This year’s Homelessness Learning Forum explored Community Based Solutioning — and how a whole-of-community approach can bring together different perspectives, ideas and resources to better support people experiencing homelessness and those at risk of homelessness.

Through the stories, insights and solutions shared, we were reminded that meaningful change happens when we SEE, HEAR and SHARE — and come together to turn ideas into action.

A heartfelt thank you to our 300 participants and volunteers who showed up, contributed to the conversations and helped make HLF 2026 a meaningful space for learning and connection.

We are also grateful to our Guest of Honour, Senior Parliamentary Secretary Mr Eric Chua, our keynote speaker, Mr Kenneth Thong, as well as all our panelists and moderator for sharing their insights and deepening the conversations around homelessness and community-based solutions.

Our sincere appreciation goes to our partners Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), Bless Community Services, Catholic Welfare Services, The Girls' Brigade Singapore, Homeless Hearts of Singapore, Institute of Policy Studies, National University of Singapore and Allkin Singapore for your collaboration and commitment in bringing HLF 2026 to life.

From settling in for the night to sharing stories, conversations and moments of reflection, our SleepOut SG 2026 participants came together to learn, connect and stand in solidarity with people experiencing homelessness.

These moments remind us that SleepOut is more than a night without our usual comforts. It is about opening our hearts, deepening our understanding and sparking conversations that can lead to change.
