Although the cherry blossom season is over, there are still many flowers throughout Hokkaido.
Take for example, the white ball-like “Isotsutsuji” flowers that are now in full bloom surrounding Oyunuma in Noboribetsu Hot Springs.
From a distance, they almost look like dandelion fluff-very cute and delicate-looking-however their nectar is actually poisonous.
Oyunuma is also famous for its autumn foliage, and its changing scenery throughout the four seasons is part of its charm.

As spring arrives in Biei, dandelions begin to bloom along the edges of rice fields and on roadside slopes, adding touches of bright yellow to the landscape.
Their fluffy seeds spread easily in the wind, which can sometimes create extra work for farmers when managing weeds, making them a bit troublesome.
Even so, they remain a charming sign that the long winter has finally come to an end.
The beautiful scenery of Biei is preserved through the daily efforts and dedication of local farmers.
Please enjoy the beauty of spring in Biei while respecting local manners and avoiding entering the fields.

The colours of the Gyoiko-zakura Cherry Blossoms at Noboribetsu onsen are starting to change.
It was pure white at first, and now has a soft and charming tint, almost as if a drop of red and green ink has been mixed into it.
We hope all of you are enjoying the spring flowers in Hokkaido.
