SPLMYL Chairperson Cde. Makwei Achol Thiong briefed on the important role of Jonglei Debate Society.

The SPLM Youth League (SPLMYL) office at the SPLM State Secretariat in Bor, Jonglei State, became a hub of inspiration and strategic engagement. The Jonglei Debate Society (JDS), represented by Cde. Kur Mayen (Program Manager), Cde. Aguti Dhieu Aguti (Secretary General), and Cde. John Goch (Deputy Program Manager), held a high-level interface meeting with SPLMYL leadership.

The discussion reflected a shared vision of empowering youth through knowledge, dialogue, and leadership. During the engagement, JDS delivered a comprehensive briefing on their flagship programs focused on debate, public speaking, and intellectual capacity-building.

Their initiatives are actively shaping students across both public and private schools by equipping them with critical thinking, communication, and presentation skills. More importantly, these programs are fostering peace, unity, and constructive dialogue among young people in Jonglei State.

In response, SPLMYL Chairperson Cde. Makwei Achol Thiong, alongside the Secretary for Political Mobilization and Organization, Cde. Diing Stephen Machar, extended a warm and commendable welcome to the delegation.The Chairperson applauded JDS for their innovation, commitment, and transformative impact on youth development.

He emphasized the importance of academic excellence, teamwork, and unity as pillars for sustainable success and nation-building. Reaffirming institutional support, the Chairperson pledged SPLMYL’s readiness to collaborate and elevate JDS initiatives to greater heights.

He highlighted plans to connect the society with key state stakeholders and decision-makers to strengthen their network and resource base. This engagement marks a significant step toward nurturing a generation of confident, articulate, and peace-driven young leaders in Jonglei State.

SPLMYL Chairperson of Jonglei State Cde. Makwei Achol Thiong paid a visit to Baidit Secondary School in Bor town.
The visit was to check progress of two students under SPLMYL Sponsorship.
The Chairperson was briefed by school administration, Ustaz Kuol Jok, the head teacher and his Deputy Ustaz David Mayom on challenges and opportunities. The Chairperson reiterated his support to the school and that his office will look to expand the program in order to support more needy students who cannot afford basic school materials including feeding fees.
He encouraged the two students to focus on their studies and in order to realize their educational goals. The Chairperson was accompanied by Cde. Chuol Machar Nhial, the secretary for Students Affairs.
