Training Notice from the City of Alvin 🚔

The City of Alvin would like to inform residents that the Alvin Police Department will be conducting police training exercises in the Briscoe Park area on Tuesday, June 9.

During this training, Alvin Police officers will be in uniform, and cadets in plain clothes will participate in training scenarios that may include running, cuffing, and chase-style exercises. Residents may also notice several marked police units and officers in the area.

This is a planned training exercise. If you see this activity at Briscoe Park on June 9, there is no need to call with concern.

At the June 4 City Council Meeting, Mayor Gabe Adame and Alvin City Council proudly proclaimed June 4, 2026, as Carol Nelson Day in honor of Mrs. Nelson’s more than 30 years of dedicated service to Alvin ISD.

From teacher and librarian to principal, Associate Superintendent, and Superintendent, Mrs. Nelson has made a lasting impact on generations of students, families, staff, and the Alvin community.

The Alvin City Council has approved a resolution opposing the construction and development of data centers within Alvin city limits until additional information, impact analysis, and regulatory considerations can be fully evaluated.

This resolution reflects the City’s commitment to responsible growth, infrastructure planning, transparency, and protecting Alvin’s long-term community character. City leadership wants to ensure potential impacts to electrical demand, water usage, wastewater capacity, drainage, transportation, emergency services, environmental resources, and overall livability are carefully reviewed before moving forward with any future consideration of this type of development.

This closure is expected to remain in place until Monday afternoon, June 8, 2026.

Please avoid the area, use alternate routes, and watch for crews working in the roadway.

🚧 Aviso de Cierre de Emergencia en la Carretera 🚧

Steele Road está cerrada entre Park Drive East y Park Drive West mientras el contratista realiza reparaciones. El clima reciente ha afectado la base de la carretera, por lo que este cierre es necesario por seguridad y para completar las reparaciones.

Se espera que este cierre permanezca vigente hasta la tarde del lunes 8 de junio de 2026.

Water Service Interruption Notice

The City of Alvin will temporarily shut off water service on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., weather permitting, to allow contractor Tandem Services to connect a new waterline to the existing waterline on S. Hood Street at Blackstone Street as part of the 2024 Concrete Pavement and Drainage Project – S. Hood Street.

The affected areas include:
S. Hood Street from W. George Street to W. South Street
Blackstone Street from S. Hill Street to S. Gordon Street
Coke Lane at S. Hood Street
Palm Circle
Hillje Street from S. Hill Street to S. Hood Street

If weather prevents the work from being completed, it will be rescheduled for Thursday, June 4, 2026, during the same time frame.

When water service is restored, some discoloration may occur. The City will be flushing the lines to help resolve this issue.
