Happy Black History Month 2026!

As we move through this month please take the time to learn and honor those that have come before us to make our city/state/nation a better place to live for all!

"Won't it be wonderful when Black History and Native American History and Jewish History and all of U.S. History is taught from one book. Just U.S. History."
-Dr. Maya Angelou

Happy Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2026!

As we celebrate and reflect on what the Reverend Doctor King, Jr. has accomplished and advocated for we must remember there is still so much more to achieve!

What can you do locally for your community to make it a better place to live for all?

Yesterday, December 11, 2025, at 5:30 PM my family and I attended Re-Imagine Communities event, “Jingle Bell Book Bash” at Kit Land Nelson Park.

It was great to see all the smiling children and families spending time under the stars, doing crafts and taking pictures with Santa. Thank you to Re-Imagine Communities and Mrs. Shaunte Jemison for always putting on great events and making sure our youth are prioritized in our community!

Later in the evening at 11:00 PM I attended Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, at 834 S Orange Blossom Trail, Apopka, Florida 32704 in celebration of “Our Lady of Guadalupe.” This celebration centers on her feast day, December 12, commemorating her 1531 apparition to Saint Juan Diego in Mexico, a major holiday marked by pilgrimages (especially to the Basilica in Mexico City), festive Masses with mariachi, traditional foods (tamales, atole), dancing, and processions, serving as a vital symbol of faith, Mexican culture, and hope for millions in Mexico and the Americas.

The celebration was well attended and was a great exemplification of our faith based community!

Tonight, December 8, 2025, I attended the annual “Apopka Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association Christmas Party” at the Apopka Community Center.

It was great to see all of the volunteers come together for good food and good conversation after a year full of volunteering with our Police Department to benefit the residents of the City of Apopka.

Thank you to our volunteers for all you do throughout the year from running “Shop-With-a-Cop” to “Cops & Bobbers”, “Burgers & Badges” and “Cops & Cones” just to name a few. Our community is better because of you and your efforts!
