Last Wednesday, the Foundation hosted our Governor's Council Reception at the Kendra Scott Headquarters to discuss the many ways our Stars are building the confidence and skills to lead.

The evening's highlight was hearing directly from students who participated in the ACE Summer Leadership Academy. Our Stars shared how the experience is already making a difference in their everyday lives, from speaking up and contributing in the classroom, to building stronger relationships with fellow Stars, and taking on leadership roles in clubs and other activities.

We are grateful to our Governor’s Council members for investing in programs that give our students opportunities to build confidence, discover their strengths, and grow into thoughtful, compassionate leaders.

A special thank you to Kendra Scott for hosting us and helping make the evening so meaningful.

Our 6th-grade Stars had an exciting day at Circuit of the Americas last Thursday. Along with thousands of Austin ISD students, they got a behind-the-scenes look at the world of racing, heard from F1 ACADEMY Managing Director Susie Wolff, and explored the many possibilities in motorsports. Thank you to COTA and F1 ACADEMY for giving our Stars the chance to dream big and discover what is possible.

Our Stars in Ms. Blackburn's STEM class are hard at work in the MakerSpace to begin the construction phase of their mini golf hole for the upcoming ARS Classic.

These Stars are putting their creativity, STEM skills, and problem-solving abilities to work while building something everyone can enjoy.

Join us on Friday, November 13, 2026, at 2 p.m. on the campus of the Ann Richards School for the 3rd Annual ARS Classic.

Sign up to play on the Ann Richards School website to experience the 18-hole mini golf course built by our Stars for yourself.

Our 7th grade Stars in Mr. Mark's math class are taking their learning outside the classroom. They are utilizing virtual reality to help them better understand distance and time. Through the use of VR Headsets, our Stars are following a lesson that helps them plots points on a graph to visualize concepts like constant speed, ratio, and unit rate.

We are proud to celebrate the Young Women's Preparatory Network (YWPN), recipients of the 2026 NACAC Inclusion, Access, and Success Award for their commitment to expanding college opportunities for underserved students.

Through the partnership between the Ann Richards School, Ann Richards School Foundation, and YWPN, our College Bound program helps our Stars prepare for college and find support every step of the way.

Congratulations to Eric Heineman, our Director of College Success Programs, for leading our Stars and helping them navigate their path to and through college.

Have you ever played mini golf with a motorcycle as an obstacle? Now you can!

Our 7th-grade Stars are designing one of the holes for this year’s ARS Classic with a very special piece of Ann Richards history in mind. One hole will feature the iconic moment when Governor Ann Richards posed with a motorcycle in the Texas Capitol rotunda.

They’re bringing that bit of Texas history to life with creativity and design.

There’s some pretty fun learning happening in Mr. Trimino’s STEM class.

Our 10th-grade Stars are using micro:bits to explore machine learning by collecting data from their own movements. They’re walking up staircases, riding down the library slide, and trying different activities to see what the data looks like.

From there, they train a machine learning model to recognize the movements. In simple terms, they’re giving a computer lots of examples so it can learn to recognize patterns in new data.

It’s a hands-on way to understand the technology behind things like fitness trackers and other smart devices. And when your classroom includes a library slide, collecting data while going down the slide adds a little more joy to the assignment.

Last month, a group of our middle and high school orchestra Stars performed with area schools for the All City Orchestra concert at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center.

Be sure to check out our Stars Orchestra on Saturday, October 24 at 1:00 PM at the Austin HS PAC for the 37th Annual Monster Concert. Orchestras from Austin HS, Ann Richards, Covington MS, Lively MS, O. Henry MS, and Small MS will be playing.
