🚩 How many red flags can you spot in this email?

It claims you’ve been charged $659.99 for a Norton subscription and urges you to call a “support” number if you don’t recognize the purchase. Would you have clicked the invoice link or called?

Take a closer look:

🚩 The sender’s email address has nothing to do with Norton.
🚩 The message tries to alarm you with a charge you may not recognize.
🚩 It pushes you to call the number in the email.
🚩 The awkward wording and formatting don’t inspire confidence.
🚩 There’s a link to view and pay an invoice.

This is a common phishing tactic. If you receive a message like this, don’t click the link or call the number provided. Check your account or statement independently, and contact the company using a number or website you find yourself.

Pause before you click. A few seconds of checking can save you a lot of trouble. 🔒

🍎 On World Teachers’ Day, the Bellevue Police Department would like to say a heartfelt thank-you to the teachers who make a difference in our community every day.

Thank you for the patience you show, the encouragement you give, and the countless hours you spend helping your students succeed. For noticing when a child is struggling. For celebrating the small victories. And for believing in students who are still learning to believe in themselves.

Your lessons reach far beyond the classroom. You help our children learn kindness, respect, responsibility, and the courage to try again, qualities that strengthen our entire community.

NEWS RELEASE - HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at approximately 9:09 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 2200 block of Whitted Drive, following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect, later identified as 23-year-old Cody Simons, still on scene.

Officers also located an adult male victim laying in the driveway, with gunshot wounds to the torso. Bellevue Fire personnel initiated lifesaving measures, and the victim, who was in critical condition, was transported by rescue squad to UNMC. Despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as 82-year-old Esteban Garcia of Bellevue.

Simons was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Sarpy County Correctional Facility for First Degree Murder; Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony; and Discharge of a Fi***rm Within City Limits.

This incident is still under investigation, and no further details will be released at this time.

𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐈𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬: 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐮𝐞 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐬
This past spring, Bellevue Police Officers Flanagan and Parsons demonstrated unwavering commitment and compassion while responding to a call for assistance in the Olde Towne Bellevue area.

The officers were asked to help locate a man who was believed to be in crisis and at imminent risk of taking his own life. After Officer Flanagan located his abandoned vehicle near American Heroes Park, the officers spoke with hikers who had seen him on nearby trails. They then began searching the wooded area on foot while the Omaha Police Department’s Able 1 helicopter provided aerial assistance.

With the assistance of Able 1’s crew, the man was located in a wooded area near the riverbank. Officers Flanagan and Parsons quickly reached him, and Officer Parsons acted immediately to save him from a life-threatening situation. Through the officers’ swift intervention, the man was revived and received further medical treatment.

Because these officers remained invested in the search, a life was saved.

Their determination, teamwork, and decisive actions in a critical moment reflect the very best of public service. We are proud to recognize Officers Flanagan and Parsons for their outstanding work and their commitment to protecting the lives of those in our community.

Sarpy County and surrounding areas, this is our chance to make a real difference.

Unused medications sitting at home can end up in the wrong hands. The DEA reports that most people who misuse prescription medications get them from family or friends. Safely disposing of medications you no longer need is a simple step that can help protect children, loved ones, and our entire community.

Join us this Saturday, October 24th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hy-Vee Papillion parking lot, 72nd Street and Highway 370. Bring your unused or expired medications for safe disposal. It’s drive up, drop off, and drive out. No questions asked.

Together, we can clear out medicine cabinets, prevent misuse, and help keep Papillion safer. Check your home, spread the word, and bring eligible medications this Saturday.

Thank you very much to everyone who donated and followed along as we helped raise funds and awareness for Town and Country Animal Rescue over the past few weeks.

Last night we heard the amazing news Cruz has been adopted and found his forever home!!! We have a wonderful community here surrounding Heights and couldn't be more humbled with your actions and generosity.
