On this National First Responders Day, we’ve got a lookback at Kent County EMS Recognition Ceremony, where nine members of the Plainfield Township Fire Department were honored for their life-saving and impactful work in the community.

To all those honored during this year’s ceremony, and to the first responders who continue to climb into ambulances and fire trucks every day, thank you for always answering the call.

Veteran benefits FAQ answered:

Veteran benefits FAQ answered:

We get questions from veterans every day about filing a claim with the VA. One of the most common questions we get is:

If I file a PTSD claim with the VA, does that mean I have to forfeit my fi****ms or lose my ability to purchase fi****ms?

The short answer is no.

Filing a disability claim, receiving a PTSD diagnosis, or receiving a disability rating (even up to 100%) does not automatically restrict or revoke a veteran's Second Amendment rights.

Federal fi***rm restrictions apply to veterans who have been formally adjudicated as "mentally incompetent" or involuntarily committed to a mental institution.

A diagnosis of PTSD or a high VA disability rating is a determination of service-connected disability, not a legal finding of incompetence.

The primary scenario where VA proceedings can impact fi***rm purchasing or ownership is if the VA determines that a veteran is fiduciarily incompetent—meaning they are incapable of managing their own financial affairs due to their condition.

Please share this with the veterans in your community!
