Binghamton University Psychology Department is holding their Open Research Day this Sunday, 11/1, from 1-4pm. This is an opportunity for community members to come see the type of research that Binghamton University is working on and learn about our recent findings!

The parking will be free on Sunday as well!

Do you need community engagement hours to remain eligible for SNAP or Medicaid benefits?

Meals on Wheels has volunteer opportunities available Monday–Friday 11 AM–1 PM.

We need drivers to deliver meals to our clients, visitors to bring meals to the door, or you can do both.

Your time can make a meaningful impact in someone’s day while helping you work toward your community engagement hour requirements.

All volunteers are required to complete a background check.

Join us Friday October 30th at Northern Broome Senior Center as we welcome Broome West participants for a scary good time!

Broome West Senior Center may be closed for renovations but that does not stop the party! All are invited to a Halloween Skelebration merging Broome West fun with Northern Broome fun!

Reserve your meal for this event by noon on October 29th by calling 607-692-3405.

For Broome West participants that cannot attend Northern Broome on Friday 10/30, please follow normal procedures and pick your meal up from the kitchen door at Broome West on 10/30.

STIC is a Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) facilitated partner with Public Partnerships LLC (PPL), the Statewide Fiscal Intermediary for Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program.

Call STIC if you:

-have questions about Medicaid funded CDPAP services
-you are a Personal Assistant or consumer looking for clients or PA’s
-need support registering in PPL@home
-need to use office equipment to support your registration or trainings
-need help with Electronic Visit Verification (EVV), assessments or communication

Great Information

When temperatures drop, it is important to know the difference between the spaces available in our community:

🪑 Warming Center = A Place to Warm Up
• Short-term relief from extreme cold
• Seating (chairs/tables) rather than beds
• Restrooms and temporary shelter from the elements
• Note: Not an overnight housing facility or pet shelter.
Examples for Broome County are: Libraries, County Health Department, and Senior Centers.

🛏️ Emergency Shelter = A Place to Sleep & Recover
• Overnight lodging with beds or cots
• Meals and hygiene services (showers, restrooms)
• Connection to case management and housing support

Please monitor local updates on facility hours and whether an emergency shelter is open in your area.
