OVIWC staff and organizational kin make our voices heard at Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Board (LADWP) public board meetings. We ask LADWP for one thing: a simple letter committing to engaging in good-faith negotiations with the tribes involved. Resolving 87 years of injustice will not happen overnight. The time to begin is now.

Out of love and respect for the recent passing of a beloved member in our Big Pine community, we will be rescheduling the Elders Gathering at Pahi Payahupuü (aka Three Creeks), to Sunday October 25th.

We are so grateful for everyone who came out to learn, support and put their hands in the Earth with us to learn how to repair our communal Earthen structures at Pahi Payahupuü (three flowing waters aka three creeks) and the Seed House at the Bishop Paiute Tribe Food Sovereignty Program over these last few weeks. We hope to continue this repair work together as a community and offer more opportunities to come together to take care of these living structures more regularly 🙏

Here at Three Creeks we are going to be holding a day dedicated for Elders Only to connect with one another, play some bingo and chup-tuhii, share and participate in cultural activities and tour the beautiful land. Meals will be provided. October 24th, 2026

Feeling deeply blessed for all our relatives who joined us on the land for our first Nation Builders Youth Summit with Indigenous Futures Society! Special thanks to Jeanine Lomaintewa and Haiwee for supporting in the planning of such a powerful event.

We are deeply grateful to all our local knowledge keepers, community members, fire tenders, water protectors, food sovereignty souls, plant people, cookers and cleaners and each of the youth that took the time to be with us on the land this weekend. What a gift.

We focused on Water, Fire, Soil, Food & Culture, and were nourished by teachings and our elders who sat and shared stories and songs with us. We even dove into some newer technologies of GIS mapping and training with the IFS crew and learned how to document an event as a team with the Department of Water Protection.

Thank you all for saying yes to creating such a powerful space of healing, cultural remembrance and healing. We pray this is the first of many more to come.

Free community class! Natural building & plaster repair at Three Creeks!

Monday, September 28th 9am-12pm Lunch provided

Join earthen builders and artists Siri Gunnarson and Leslie Roberts, in collaboration with Bishop Paiute Tribe Food Sovereignty Program to learn how to make natural plasters and help repair the Heron House and Coopers Pooper at Pahidu Payahuupü (Three Flowing Waters aka Three Creeks).

These are skills that stay in the community, basic plaster work you can carry into caring for the natural buildings here and at the Bishop Seed House, and into whatever we build and care for here in Payahuunadü.
