The AFT Latino Caucus joins the nation in mourning the passing of Dolores Huerta, an extraordinary labor leader, civil rights icon, and lifelong champion of working people.
We are deeply honored to have established an award in her name, whose recipients have already included the Hon. Delia Garcia, the Hon. Ischia Bravo, and Felipe Luciano. Through this recognition, we seek to ensure that her legacy of courage, advocacy, and commitment to justice continues to inspire generations of leaders and activists.
AFT Latino Caucus President Angie González shared:
“It was an incredible privilege to share the stage with Dolores Huerta at the AFT Convention this past July. It was a historic and meaningful moment for me and the caucus that we will always cherish. To stand alongside someone whose lifelong dedication to workers, justice, and equality has inspired so many is an honor we will never forget.”
Her legacy is woven into the fabric of our labor movement and the ongoing struggle for justice. We will continue to honor her memory through our work, our advocacy, and our commitment to the values she championed.
¡Sí, se puede! Rest in power, Dolores.
