⏰ FALL BACK, CARSON CITY!

Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend! Before you enjoy that extra hour of sleep, here are a few reminders from your friends at Carson City Fire Department:

🕰️ Change your clocks. Set them back one hour before heading to bed Saturday night.

🚨 Check your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. Test them, replace batteries if needed, and make sure they're working properly. If your alarms are 10 years old or older, it's time to replace them.

❤️ Take care of yourself. The time change can disrupt sleep routines, prioritize rest, maintain your routine, and listen to your body.

🔦 Check your emergency supplies. Make sure flashlights work, batteries are fresh, and your emergency kit is ready for the season.

🔥 Give space heaters some space. Keep them at least three feet from anything that can burn, plug them directly into a wall outlet, and turn them off when leaving the room or going to bed.

🍂 Check your home heating equipment. Have your heating system inspected and keep vents and heating areas clear.

And one more thing... enjoy that extra hour! You've earned it.

From all of us at Carson City Fire Department, stay safe, stay warm, and enjoy the changing season!

🇺🇸 Happy Nevada Day!

Born from the spirit of the Old West, built on grit, and strengthened by generations of people who have called this place home.

Here in Carson City, our history of service runs deep. The roots of the Carson City Fire Department date back to June 17, 1863, with the formation of Warren Engine Company No. 1 — a full year before Nevada became a state. More than 160 years later, that tradition of service continues.

As we celebrate Nevada's birthday and look ahead to America's 250th anniversary, we're reminded that the greatest part of our history isn't just where we've been, but the people who continue to show up, serve, protect, and care for their communities.

We're proud of our Nevada roots, honored by those who came before us, and committed to serving the place we call home.

Celebrate Nevada. Celebrate responsibly. Take care of one another.

Happy Nevada Day from your Carson City Fire Department! 🚒💙

❤️ Lifesaving Skills + Supporting Local Students = A Win-Win!

Our friends at Carson High School HOSA are hosting a CPR opportunity, and we're happy to help spread the word!

This is a great chance to learn skills that could one day save a life while supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals. Even better, this opportunity serves as a fundraiser for Carson High HOSA!

While CCFD doesn't offer CPR classes to the general public, we're always happy to support our community partners who are making a difference.

Check out the details below, sign up, and help support these future healthcare heroes!

Learn a skill. Support students. Make a difference! ❤️

No firefighters were harmed in the making of this video… 👀

When the tones drop, we run toward the danger. When Michael Myers shows up at the training grounds… apparently, we run for entirely different reasons🔪🎃

We fight fires, answer calls, and apparently… we’re not safe from each other, either!

Wishing everyone a safe, happy, and frightfully fun Halloween from your Carson City Fire Department! 👻🖤

Stay spooky, Carson City! 🎃🚒

🚨🚒 ONE CALL. MANY RESPONDERS. ONE COMMUNITY.

When someone calls for help, it takes a team to answer.

From the voice on the other end of the phone, to the dispatcher coordinating the response, to the law enforcement officers and firefighters and paramedics arriving on scene — every role matters.

We may wear different uniforms, serve in different roles, and work in different places, but we're united by one purpose: serving and protecting our community.

This First Responders Day, Carson City Fire Department recognizes and thanks our law enforcement and dispatch partners, along with all those who answer the call.

Different roles. One mission. Stronger together. ❤️💛💙

🚒 TRAINING THURSDAY | DRIVER OPERATOR ACADEMY

There's more to driving a fire engine than getting behind the wheel! 🚒

Our Carson City Fire Department members are hitting the training ground for our internal Driver Operator Academy, building the knowledge, technical skills, and confidence needed to safely and effectively operate our apparatus in preparation of upcoming promotiknal testing.

From understanding the equipment to mastering the skills required to get our crews where they need to be, this training is an important part of maintaining a high level of readiness for our community.

Because when the call comes in, every skill matters. 💪

🌶️ Things are heating up at Carson Montessori School! 🔥

The Carson City Fire Department was proud to once again serve as judges for Carson Montessori School’s annual Chili Cook-Off!

We’ve had the pleasure of being part of this tradition for several years, and it’s always a fun way to connect with our community, support our local schools, and enjoy some seriously good chili. 🥣

A big thank-you to Carson Montessori School for continuing to include us in this delicious tradition. We’re already looking forward to next year! 🚒🌶️

🔥 That’s a wrap on Fire Prevention Week! 🔥
Whew! What a week! Our crews delivered 10 fire prevention presentations throughout the community, sharing important lessons that can help keep our families, homes, and neighbors safe.
A huge THANK YOU to all the schools, teachers, students, and community members who welcomed us this week. We love getting out into the community, connecting with our future firefighters, and helping everyone be a little more fire-safe!
As we wrap up the week, remember the lessons that matter long after Fire Prevention Week is over:
🚪 Get Low and Go! If there’s smoke, get down low and get outside. Smoke rises, and the air is safer closer to the floor.
🛏️ Close Before You Doze! Close your bedroom door before going to sleep. A closed door can help slow the spread of smoke, heat, and fire.

Fire Prevention Week may be over, but fire safety is a year-round job! Thanks for letting us be part of your week, Carson City. ❤️💛
Stay safe, stay prepared, and remember: a few simple habits can make a lifesaving difference!
