No two days are ever the same for our patrol deputies.

On June 3, Patrol Team 1 responded to a woman experiencing a medical emergency at a hotel, investigated an injury crash in the Streets at Southglenn parking lot, and conducted routine traffic enforcement β€” all within just a few hours.

Every call is different, but each one requires readiness, compassion, and decision-making. We take pride in our job, and we're committed to being there whenever you need us.

Our summer Youth Academy was a huge success! 16 teenagers spent the week getting a behind-the-scenes look at the Sheriff's Office. They toured the 911 Dispatch Center, the Crime Lab, and the Arapahoe County Jail. They learned about fi****ms, traffic stops, and even participated in active threat scenarios. They also got to watch a K9 demo and got a close-up look at the SWAT Team, Bomb Squad, Drone Unit, and Mounted Unit.

The week began with Sheriff Tyler Brown welcoming the teens and thanking them for spending part of their summer learning about the Sheriff's Office. The busy week wrapped up with a certificate of completion and a graduation ceremony.

🚨 CAPTURED 🚨
A suspect who had been evading law enforcement with active felony warrants for Dangerous Drugs and Distribution was captured by Arapahoe sheriff deputies on June 3 in Centennial.

Eric Tengan, 43, was taken into custody after a brief pursuit involving an electric bike. Deputies with the Special Investigations Unit initially located him at a hotel in the 13000 block of E. Briarwood Ave. When deputies attempted to contact him, he fled on the e-bike. After deputies ordered him to stop, Tengan abandoned the bike and ran on foot. Deputies pursued him, and he quickly surrendered near E. Peakview Ave. and S. Uvalda St.

Outstanding work by the Special Response Team and Patrol Team 2 in safely apprehending this wanted fugitive and taking him off the streets. πŸ‘πŸ‘

This is exactly why reckless e-motorcycle riding is a serious public safety concern.

A juvenile rider chose to flee from deputies through a residential neighborhood, reaching speeds and taking risks that endangered everyone nearby. Riding carelessly, the rider narrowly avoided crashing into a fence that could have resulted in serious injury.

Too often, riders treat e-motorcycles like toys. They are not. E-motorcycles can travel at high speeds and, when operated recklessly, become a danger to pedestrians, motorists, and the riders themselves.

If a deputy attempts to stop you, stop. Running from law enforcement is not a game, and it is not without consequences. Intentionally fleeing from deputies can result in felony eluding charges or other criminal and traffic offenses.

Our deputies are committed to keeping our neighborhoods safe and safety is a shared responsibility. Parents, know where your children are riding and talk with them about following traffic laws and respecting law enforcement.

One poor decision can change a life forever. Ride responsibly.

On May 30, Deputy Lance was conducting proactive patrols near S. Parker Rd. and E. Mississippi Ave. when he noticed a U-Haul truck parked behind a business. He saw a man using a dumpster that was not available for public use, which prompted further investigation.

The man consented to a search of his backpack, where Deputy Lance found more than 57 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a scale with suspected drug residue, a large knife, and an open container of ma*****na.

The man was arrested and booked into jail on charges of:
βœ” Distribution of illegal narcotics
βœ” Controlled substances special offender
βœ” Carrying a concealed dangerous weapon

Great work by Deputy Lance for his vigilance and thorough investigation in keeping our community safe.
