Supporting survivors of domestic violence has long been a priority for CCLA.

Our Family Law Director, Spencer E. Schold, and Operations Officer, Aamir Amjad, joined community partners, service providers and advocates to share information about resources available to IPV/DV survivors and discuss ways to identify and eliminate barriers that may prevent survivors from receiving assistance.

That commitment is also reflected in the leadership of our CEO, Larissa Mañón, who has worked with survivors for years and serves on the American Bar Association’s Commission on Domestic & Sexual Violence.

CCLA joined ourBRIDGE for KIDS and other community partners for the 13th Annual International Fall Festival in East Charlotte. United Way of Greater Charlotte supported the event through its Live United Day volunteer initiative.

How great is it to have a vision of what justice should look like, and then find a like-minded person that can mobilize people and entities into action to make that vision closer to reality every day? It's like playing cards and you have been dealt all the wildcards.

While Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month officially ends today, CCLA celebrates and embraces all cultures year-round. This year's celebration was fantastic, with friends sharing pride in their countries and cultures, traditional foods, activities, dancing, and more. But if you want to see video of CEO Larissa Mañón salsa dancing, you might see it at the Access to Justice Breakfast in February. PS: She started out as a dance major!
