It was a pleasure to show the UNCC Urban Planning Club around the Government Center last Thursday and give students a better idea of how the Planning Department shapes, connects, and designs great places for our thriving communities.
Special guests from Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) and Charlotte Department of Transportation joined the CRTPO to explain how transportation infrastructure is planned in Charlotte and the surrounding areas. Students got to put their new knowledge to the test while playing a version of the Growing Better Places board game, facilitated by the Long-Range Planning division.
Last week we attended the ribbon cutting for the opening of a segment of the Chestnut Parkway in ✂️🎀🎉
Once all segments are complete, this extension will relieve congest and connect communities to town hall and Chestnut Square Park.

CLOSURE: The Caldwell Station Greenway will be closed until further notice due to the Bailey Road extension road construction.
