STREET CLOSING: The City of Cullman Street Department has closed a section of Cleveland Ave SW between 1st St SW and 2nd St SW to complete a cross drain repair. This section of roadway is expected to remain closed today, tomorrow, and possibly through the weekend while repairs are underway. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and use alternate routes if possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding as crews work to complete these necessary repairs.

PLANNED ROAD CLOSURE – Wednesday, 06/03/2026

The City of Cullman Sewer Department will be making repairs at the intersection of St. Joseph St. NW and Rosemont Ave. NW on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. Work will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will require the roadway in this area to be closed for most of the day.

Emergency traffic will not be able to pass through this area.

SEWER SMOKE TESTING: The City of Cullman Sewer Department will be conducting smoke testing on sewer lines in the area of Alabama Farm Credit at the intersection of Highway 278 and Highway 31 on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, beginning at 6:30 a.m. This testing is not expected to disrupt service. Residents and businesses in the area may notice smoke coming from sewer vents or other openings; however, the smoke is non-toxic, harmless, and poses no danger. What began as a local holiday celebration in Cullman has grown into one of Alabama’s largest tourism attractions, earning statewide recognition as the Cullman Christkindlmarkt was named the Alabama Tourism Department’s 2026 Event of the Year.

The award recognizes the downtown festival’s impact on tourism, community engagement and economic development across Alabama. State tourism officials announced the honor ahead of the Alabama Governor’s Conference on Tourism, where the award will be formally presented July 13 in Florence.

EMERGENCY WATER OUTAGE: The City of Cullman Water Department is making an emergency repair to a leaking main line on Doc Clemmons Road between Lindsey Road and Allred Road in the Good Hope community.
