STORM DEBRIS CLEANUP UPDATE
The City of Dothan’s storm debris cleanup crews continue to make progress throughout the city. Crews are currently working in the Ford Country area and have made significant progress collecting large piles of clean tree debris in neighborhoods and areas across Dothan.
Areas where crews have worked include Garden District, Stonebridge, Woodlands, Brentwood, Highlands, Chapelwood, Flowers Chapel Road, Fortner Street, Trawick Road, Murphy Mill Road, Denton Road outside the Circle, Flynn Road, Cloverdale, Lakeside, Hidden Lakes and Eddins Road, among others.
Please remember: An area that has been worked is not necessarily complete. Crews will need to make multiple passes through many neighborhoods as residents continue to have trees cut and move additional debris to the roadside.
Our crews are prioritizing clean storm debris, including trees, limbs and other vegetative waste. At this time, piles mixed with construction and demolition debris, boxes, furniture or other bulky items will not be collected. Once the majority of clean storm debris has been removed, crews will transition back to collecting mixed debris and other bulky waste.
Residents may also see crews collect some piles while passing others nearby. This is due to the size and severity of individual piles and the equipment available to handle them efficiently. Please know that piles left behind have not been forgotten.
Based on current progress, we anticipate it could take another two to three weeks before we can return to our normal collection routes. This timeline will depend on equipment availability and the amount of additional debris placed at the roadside.
