“Every day is a gift. Remember to unwrap it with joy and gratitude.” — Unknown 🎁

This season of gratitude feels especially meaningful this year. As I look at the world around us and see the struggles so many are facing, I am reminded how fortunate I am to be able to serve our community and how grateful I am for the many people who choose to serve alongside us. Each of us has something to offer, whether it is our time, talents, or treasure. 💛 When we share what we have, we create something greater than any one of us could create alone.

October seemed to fly by, bringing weather that was, well…a little all over the place! 🍁🌦️ In some ways, it felt like the weather was mirroring the chaotic rhythm of the world around us. Yet through it all, we continued to serve our mission to the fullest. Challenges came our way, as they always do, but our staff, volunteers, and community met them with grace, determination, and a little fierceness when needed! 💪❤️

And through it all, there was still JOY. 😊

The laughter and smiles of our guests and volunteers never disappeared. In fact, watching our community come together to cheer on the Brewers during their World Series run ⚾ and the Pack game after game 🏈 was something special. I had not experienced that kind of shared excitement at The Community Table before, and it was incredible to witness. For a little while, we weren't focused on everything happening in the world, we were simply a community, cheering, laughing, celebrating, and enjoying the moment together. 💙💚

Those moments remind me that gratitude and compassion are not just things we feel; they are things we do. They show up in a meal served, a conversation shared, a donation given, a volunteer who walks through our doors, and a person who chooses to help someone else. 🤝❤️

As we move into November, I hope we continue to unwrap each day with joy and gratitude 🎁 and look for opportunities to share both with others.

To every donor, volunteer, staff member, and guest: thank you for being the heart of The Community Table. ❤️ You make a difference every single day. I could not be more grateful for the work we get to do together, for the people who make it possible, and for the way this community continues to show up for one another.
With gratitude, love, laughter, and a smile, 😊

TJ

Today we introduce one of our newest core volunteers, Billie! Billie is a donation pickup driver for TCT and has been volunteering with the organization for approximately five years, helping with everything from cleaning to preparing food, assisting with the work that makes TCT’s mission possible.

Billie’s personal experiences with food and housing insecurity, including growing up in challenging living circumstances, have given her a deep understanding of the importance of community support. Those experiences, along with the relationships she has built with many of Eau Claire’s most vulnerable community members, have inspired her continued commitment to volunteering at The Community Table.

Outside of volunteering, Billie is a proud dog mom to three adorable Shih Tzu mixes. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her dogs and even takes them kayaking, an activity they all enjoy!

Billie is grateful that an organization like TCT is part of the Eau Claire community, providing meals and support to individuals and families who need them, with dignity and without judgment. She believes volunteering is an important way to strengthen a community and has deep admiration for anyone willing to show up, roll up their sleeves, and help with the boots on the ground service work. It can be easy to say what is needed, but also walking the talk helps people understand the need at a different level and the impact to our neighbors.

Welcome to the team, Billie!
