Student voices drive better decisions. Several members of our Board of Education, Superintendent Dr. Curtis Cain and Chief Communications Officer Mary LaPak presented at the Missouri School Boards' Association Annual Conference on Oct. 24, spotlighting the impact of our Board Student Advisory Committee.

The session shared how intentional, regular dialogue with students strengthens district governance, builds trust and creates authentic relationships across our school community. A highlight of the presentation: powerful recorded reflections from both current and former student advisors sharing firsthand what it means to have a seat at the table.

More than 1,000 Rockwood middle and elementary school students in grades 4-8 participated in the annual district cross-country meet at Crestview Middle on Oct. 23-24. Seventh- and eighth-grade students ran 1.5 miles, and students in grades 4-6 ran a mile.

To assist with the events, members of our high school cross-country teams helped set the pace, running with the racers and leading them around the course. Congratulations to all of the students who participated, and thank you to our PE teachers for helping facilitate such an awesome event!

At this year's Trunk or Treat, the Chesterfield Elementary PTO included giveaways aligned with the Teal Pumpkin Project, a movement that makes Halloween safer and more inclusive for children with food allergies or other dietary restrictions, with a teal pumpkin signaling that there are non-food treats available at that trunk or house.

The PTO sent out flyers through newsletters and other channels to raise awareness and encourage parents to bring their own pre-filled teal pumpkin to Trunk or Treat or donate non-food treats. Through donations, Chesterfield was able to pass out 60 pre-filled teal pumpkins to cars to have alongside the treats they were already planning to hand out!
