Our new greenhouse project is officially underway! 🎉

You may have noticed construction happening around the MSAB campus. Along with our ongoing dormitory renovations, we're excited to share that we're also building a brand-new greenhouse!

As you can see in the photo, crews have begun preparing the site and laying the groundwork for the greenhouse.

Stay tuned! We'll continue sharing updates and photos as construction progresses.

Last week, the MSA Board visited our campuses for a board retreat filled with discussions, learning, and community engagement!

As part of their visit, the Board hosted a Town Hall Meeting, welcoming community members, alumni, parents, families, and staff to learn more about MSA's Strategic Plan and Year 1 Action Steps. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, share feedback, and discuss the direction of our schools with board members.

The Board also participated in a White Cane Awareness Experience, learning more about blindness, visual impairment, and the importance of orientation and mobility skills. Board members had the opportunity to use white canes and experience firsthand how our students navigate their surroundings.

We appreciate our Board members for taking the time to visit our campuses, engage with our school communities, and learn more about the students and families we serve.

Also, a special thank you to everyone who attended the Town Hall and shared their perspectives. Your input is an important part of our strategic planning process!

While some of our students traveled to Rochester to celebrate White Cane Day, we also had a celebration right here at MSAB!

Students who stayed on campus enjoyed a short walk near school and gathered for photos with staff in their new White Cane Day shirts!

This year's shirt proudly features the message "ONWARD! Courage in Motion 2026" in both print and Braille.

White Cane Day is a wonderful reminder of the importance of independence, accessibility, and celebrating the achievements of individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

Last week, our MSAB students and staff traveled to Rochester, Minnesota, to celebrate White Cane Day!

White Cane Day is an opportunity to recognize the independence, confidence, and achievements of individuals who are blind or visually impaired while raising awareness about the importance of accessibility and inclusion.

We were honored to have MSAB Director John Davis read Governor Tim Walz's White Cane Day Proclamation and Dr. Kent Pekel, Superintendent of Rochester Public Schools, deliver a welcoming speech to kick off the celebration

It was a wonderful day filled with learning, laughter, and community connections!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped organize this event and made our students feel welcome. We had a fantastic time in Rochester!
Happy White Cane Day! Let's continue celebrating independence, accessibility, and the blind and visually impaired community!
