ENJOY HALLOWEEN SAFELY!

Our community Trick or Treat is tomorrow from 6 PM to 8 PM. We urge motorists to exercise extreme caution during this period. Please be aware that costumes can sometimes obstruct pedestrian vision. Also, be on the lookout for children entering the road unexpectedly. Let us work together as a community to make this a safe and enjoyable holiday.

Here are a few safety tips to help ensure your celebration goes smoothly:

1. Es**rt your children or have an older sibling accompany them;
2. Trick-or-treat only in those neighborhoods with which you are familiar;
3. Avoid costumes and masks that impair vision or make it difficult for children to walk. Do wear bright colored costumes that can be more easily seen by motorists or add strips of reflective tape if out after dark;
4. Children or accompanying adults should carry flashlights after dark and be instructed to cross streets only at intersections;
5. Houses without an outside light on should not be approached by trick-or-treaters;
6. Children should not eat any treats until they have been inspected by an adult.

One of our favorite traditions is the annual preschool downtown trick or treat. Unfortunately, the number of kids participating has dwindled over the last few years. However, our staff still enjoys dressing up, decorating and handing out treats to some of our youngest constituents.

Kentucky State Senator Gex Williams and Representative Dan Fister presented a check for transportation projects at our last court meeting. The majority of funds, allocated by the General Assembly, will go toward replacing the Julian M. Carroll Bridge on KY 676 (East-West Connector). It was built in 1979 and is the main detour route across the Kentucky River when I-64 is closed.
