Special Olympics Gaston County

An incredible weekend at Special Olympics NC Summer Games in Raleigh.

Athletes took to the lanes, court, pool, and more to represent Gaston county across multiple sports (volleyball, basketball team, basketball skills, bowling, and swimming) and bring home the gold.

Congratulations to all of the athletes!

Sharing some kind words from our skating coach as they wrapped up their spring training season...

Our coaches are the BEST and are always there for our athletes. Huge shout out to coach Eugene for all that he does with our athletes in the skating program.

"This was a wonderful season and addition to our fall training. Athlete 1 has improved tremendously and loves to skate, he was the main inspiration for doing a spring practice, just seeing how passionate he was! Athlete 2 was great as usual, he's matured a lot and is looking for a job now and driving on his own now, very impressed with him. In many ways he has logical skills and maturity at 17 that many adults don't! Athlete 3 was awesome too, he's improving both skating and attitude, becoming more open to feedback and resilient. Athlete 4 started skating more on his own this season as well! It was a great season, lot of growth and it's a privilege to coach everyone!"
