Be Considerate When Parking on Neighborhood Streets

As summer activities, home projects, and landscaping work pick up, the Village reminds residents and visitors to be considerate when parking on neighborhood streets.

Vehicles parked too close to driveways, or directly across from driveways on narrow streets, can make it difficult for residents to safely enter or exit their property. This can be especially challenging when landscaping trucks, construction vehicles, passenger vehicles, or multiple cars are parked on both sides of the street.

When parking on the street, please leave enough space for:
Residents to safely access their driveways
Other vehicles to pass through the roadway
Emergency vehicles to navigate the street if needed
Clear visibility near intersections, crosswalks, and stop signs

Village ordinance also prohibits parking within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, 20 feet of a crosswalk, or 30 feet of a stop sign.

A little extra space can make a big difference for your neighbors and help keep neighborhood streets safe and accessible for everyone.

After extensive public input and feedback, the Glen Ellyn Public Art Workgroup has selected artist Jason Watts to create a new seven-panel digital art installation for the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main Street. Sponsored by the Village of Glen Ellyn, the mural will commemorate America’s 250th anniversary while celebrating Glen Ellyn’s history, community spirit, and longstanding commitment to public art. Watts’ design will present a cohesive historical timeline across seven 8-by-8-foot panels, creating a lasting public artwork for residents and visitors to enjoy.

The display is expected to be installed by the end of June, with plans for it to be in place in time for Glen Ellyn’s Independence Day celebration.

The Village’s 2026 Lead Service Line Replacement Project is scheduled to begin Tuesday, May 26, in the area of Crescent Boulevard, Taylor Avenue, Lee Street, Willis Street, Hickory Road, Edgewood Drive, Ellynwood Drive, Woodland Drive and Midway Park.

Miller Pipeline will complete the work, which includes replacing lead service lines from the water main to the parkway, from the parkway to the home, or from the water main to the home, depending on the property. Impacts to the surrounding area are expected to be minimal, but residents may see temporary sidewalk closures, single-lane closures and general construction activity.

Affected residents have already been notified, and the work is expected to take approximately three weeks, weather permitting. Questions may be directed to Utilities Superintendent Nick Burgoni at (630) 547-5515.
