Last week, I attended the opening of the Walking with Giants exhibit, presented by the McAninch Arts Center and Cleve Carney Museum of Art in association with the College of DuPage Foundation.
On display through Oct. 18, the exhibition features 10 towering painted silhouette sculptures by local artists Rich Lo and Judith Mayer. The larger-than-life works pay tribute to influential Americans in visual art, music and theater. One of the constructors of the art pieces, Madelene Przybysz, gave me a tour and explained the fascinating process of bringing these giants to life.

On June 6, we honor the service members from Illinois and across the country who took part in the D-Day invasion. Their courage and sacrifice helped shape the course of history and remind us of the cost of freedom.

This Small Business Saturday, I'd like to highlight Elite Meat Market in Glen Ellyn! A family business dating back three generations, this location opened about six months ago and specializes in quality meats, seafood, and deli products. The store also carries basic groceries and specialty Italian food products at a reasonable price.
You can stop by and order customizable sandwiches, and I particularly liked the tuna sandwich. It's the perfect place for a quick lunch or to shop for your dinner. I know that I'll be going back!
Thank you to the Glen Ellyn IL Chamber of Commerce for the introduction.

Congrats to the York Center Fire Protection District for receiving the 2026 Joseph Hartmann Award by Downers Grove's Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital! The award is given annually to paramedics and fire districts who exhibit extreme care and rescue in a pre-hospital setting.
The paramedic crew recognized included FF/EMT Chase Coleman, Paramedic Ray Trelka, FF/EMT Charles Barnes, Lt. Scott Schraft, and FF/PM Sean Kulpa. The crew was presented with the award this past Tuesday, and I was honored to attend the ceremony with my fellow State Representative Diane Blair-Sherlock.

When I speak with constituents, affordability is one of their top concerns. With the spring legislative session ending this past weekend, I want to highlight some bills that I supported that focus on cutting costs for the average person. All these bills passed both chambers and will go to the governor's desk for signature.
• SB 3496 empowers health experts to set maximum prices for prescription drugs sold in Illinois
• HB 4248 bans AI-powered schemes that collect consumer information to justify price increases
• SB 318 cracks down on bot farms that mass-purchase online tickets and drive up prices for live events
• HB 45 requires retailers to honor savings even if customers cannot access their digital coupons
• SB 2828 creates a regulatory framework for hearing care organizations to reduce the cost of hearing aids

Pride Month is a celebration of love, individuality, and equality. It’s also time to reflect on past struggles and support ongoing efforts for LGBTQ+ rights. Across the country, rising discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community negatively impacts individuals safety, mental health, and rights. That’s why Illinois continues to stand up for LGBTQ+ rights. This Pride Month, be proud of who you are and love out loud!
