Shaler Hampton EMS would like to extend a sincere THANK YOU to AHN Wexford Hospital, including Dr. Allan Klapper, CEO, and Rob Druga, EMS Coordinator, for their generous donation of a Laerdal Advanced Airway Solution training system!

This advanced medical training equipment allows our paramedics to practice and refine critical airway management skills in a realistic, hands-on environment.

Managing a patient's airway is one of the most important lifesaving interventions our paramedics perform, particularly when a patient is critically ill, seriously injured, or unable to breathe effectively on their own.

The best time to master lifesaving skills is BEFORE someone's life depends on it.

Thanks to the generosity of AHN Wexford, our paramedics will have another valuable training resource to help ensure we're ready when our community needs us most.

Thank you for investing in our people, our training, and ultimately, the patients we collectively care for!

Lieutenant Benko was one of a kind and had an incredible work ethic through the very last days of his long and storied career.

We are very fortunate for the support that we receive from each of the 3 police departments that we work with, but Dave rose above everyone - if he was working, he was there and asking how he could help, comforting the patient's family - whatever was needed, always with kindness, positivity, and a smile.

He has certainly earned and deserves his retirement, but we will miss him! From all of us at Shaler Hampton EMS, may your retirement be long and joyful!!!

COMMUNITY UPDATE: TEMPORARY STATION RELOCATION

Due to ongoing maintenance work at our Shaler station, Shaler Hampton EMS must temporarily vacate the station beginning this morning, August 12, through approximately 5:00 p.m. tomorrow, August 13.

During this time, our Shaler crews and ambulances will operate from Fugh Hall in Etna. This location was selected because it keeps us well positioned to respond promptly to all areas normally served from the Shaler station.

There will be no change in service.

As always, if you need an ambulance, CALL 911. Allegheny County 911’s trained professionals will assist you and always know the location and availability of our ambulances.

We wanted to keep everyone informed in case you notice no ambulances at our Shaler station—or several ambulances parked at Fugh Hall in Etna.

This will NOT affect operations from our Hampton station at all.

Thank you to Etna Fire Department for the hospitality!

We are ON for tomorrow!

Go to the park and learn how to Save A Life! We are offering Hands-Free CPR training in 9 different Shaler Township parks over 2 days, August 8th and August 22nd.

Although the sessions are one hour each - believe it or not, it won't take nearly that long to learn Hands-Only CPR.

We'll also be introducing the AED's that are available in 10 Shaler Parks, along with Stop the Bleed kits and Narcan.

No experience is necessary—just stop by and learn!

We wanted to share this post from our partners at the Shaler Township Police Department to emphasize the safety perspective. We have had several patients from e-bike and electric scooter crashes, and some with significant injuries. We certainly encourage everyone to follow the law, but no matter what, wear the appropriate safety equipment, especially a helmet!
