SMALL RIDE. BIG RESPONSIBILITY.

Some, but not all Lancaster County, Nebraska cities and villages permit golf carts, ATVs, and UTVs within their city limits. Additionally, parents/guardians - not just riders - can be held responsible for allowing minors to operate these vehicles unlawfully. Help us help your family avoid an avoidable problem. Be sure you're familiar with the rules before you ride.

In the City of Hickman and the City of Waverly, Nebraska:

✅ Insurance Required
✅ City Registration Required
✅ Safety Flag Required
✅ Allowed Sunrise to Sunset
✅ Subject to Nebraska Rules of the Road, including DUI and Alcohol violations

Friendly Reminder: Brush Pile Key Exchange & Amnesty Period

Hello Residents!

We are updating the lock on our brush pile facility. Please take note of the following important updates regarding access keys:

Amnesty Period (Now through October 31, 2026): If you currently have an old brush pile key, you can return it to City Hall by October 31 at no charge.

Unreturned Keys: Starting November 1, any unreturned or lost keys will incur a $25 replacement fine, which will be charged directly to the utility account associated with the key checkout.

New Lock & Key Checkout: Old keys will no longer work on the new lock. To access the brush pile going forward, please drop by City Hall to check out a new key.

24-Hour Return Policy: Keys must be returned within 24 hours of checkout so other community members can use the facility. Brush Pile access is only available for residents within the muncipality. No commercial use is allowed!
