Last week, our staff and board members headed to Wichita for the Annual National Conference for Growing Community Foundations, hosted by the Kansas Association of Community Foundations.

Over three days, we connected with fellow community foundations, shared ideas, and learned about new ways to make a difference in our communities.

Staff also contributed to the conference as session panelists.

We’re heading home feeling inspired, energized, and proud to be part of a network working to build stronger, more vibrant communities!

City of Hutchinson Accepting Applications for Southwest District Council Vacancy

The City of Hutchinson is now accepting applications from qualified residents interested in serving on the Hutchinson City Council as the Southwest District representative.

Interested residents are encouraged to complete the online application, which includes questions about their qualifications, interest in public service, and perspectives on the priorities and needs of the Southwest District and the City of Hutchinson.

Following the application deadline, City Council will review applications, conduct candidate interviews, and select an individual to fill the vacancy.

The appointed councilmember will serve until the next City Council election in November 2027. The individual elected at that time will serve the remainder of the Southwest District term, which runs through December 2029.

The City encourages eligible residents who are interested in representing their district and contributing to the future of Hutchinson to apply.

Our office will be closed Wednesday Oct. 14- Friday, Oct. 16 as our staff attends the annual National Conference for Growing Community Foundations in Wichita.

Normal hours of operation will resume on Monday, Oct. 19.

🎉 𝐒𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭! The Fund for Reno County of Hutchinson Community Foundation is proud to support impactful projects like "Fix Up the Façade" in Downtown Arlington.

🎯 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲'𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠: Arlington Community PRIDE Association is sponsoring the painting and repair of the outside façade of the historical Arlington Trading Co. building that dates to the 1890’s. This building is now open as the Main Street Bodega, a new business providing small format groceries and grab-and-go food items, as well as a floral shop.

💰 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲, Hutch CF was pleased to provide $2,247 for their façade fix up project under our Community & Economic Development grant program as part of the 2026 Impact Cycle 1.

🌱 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲'𝐬 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: Arlington Community PRIDE Association has a vision for a brighter and more revitalized downtown Arlington area that all residents can enjoy, and they're certainly underway.

📅 A reminder about UPLIFT 2026 date change!

Today was the originally scheduled date for UPLIFT 2026, but due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict we have moved the event to November 19.

We’ll still be gathering at Rhapsody on B at the Crystal Ballroom to celebrate the changemakers making a difference across Reno County.

We’ll recognize our 2026 Gift to Dream recipient and Fund for Reno County grant recipients and have four Changemaker Chat presentations to highlight some of the work being done in Reno County this year.

✨ The Gift to Dream Grant is a peer selected grant that awards $2,500 in honor of Hutch CF’s Legacy Society.

Legacy Society is made up of donors who have given $10,000 or more to an endowed fund or who have made an end-of-life financial commitment. Learn more about the Legacy Society here: https://hutchcf.org/legacy-society.

As part of our Nonprofit Strength Initiative, Hutchinson Community Foundation invites applications from Reno County nonprofit organizations to Magnify, a two-day workshop presented by NonprofitGO founder and Executive Director, Vickie Kline.

With more than 30 years of nonprofit experience, Vickie brings practical insight on what it takes to build capacity, strengthen operations and create sustainable organizations.

Magnify will cover the fundamentals of managing a nonprofit, such as:
