🦪 Are you ready for Oyster season, Barnstable?
Oyster season opens November 4th!

Whether you're a seasoned shellfisher or looking to make the most of the season, be sure to review the regulations before you go!

👉 Recreational harvest limit: One-half (½) peck, or 5 quarts dry measure, per shellfishing week for each recreational permit.

Get your gear ready, know the rules, and enjoy oyster season responsibly!

UPDATE from Barnstable Police Department:
Hockey bag update: As of 9:00am on Friday, October 30, 2026, The Barnstable Police Department would like to thank everyone who assisted and provided support regarding the missing hockey bag.
Thanks to the help of our community, we have identified the individual who took the bag and are actively working to recover it.
We appreciate everyone who shared the information and helped us get to this point.

🚨 The Barnstable Police Department is seeking to identify the individual pictured below.

At approximately 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, a male subject took a black Bauer hockey bag from the HYCC. The bag contained hockey equipment belonging to an 8-year-old child.

🚧 Sewer Construction Update 🚧

Starting in early November, a contractor working for the Town of Barnstable, Robert B. Our Co. Inc., will resume sewer construction within a portion of Bumps River Road, Osterville, as part of the Route 28 West Sewer Expansion Project.

👉 What Residents & Motorists Need to Know:

⚠️ Road Closure: Bumps River Road, from Osterville-West Barnstable Road to Pond Street

⏰ Hours: 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, weather permitting.

🗓 Duration: Work on Bumps River Road is anticipated to be completed by the end of December.

Detour signage will be in place with traffic control onsite to assist motorists. Local resident and business access will be maintained.

📣 PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE

The Town of Barnstable is preparing to break ground on its next sewer expansion project, which will install sewer infrastructure in Centerville, south of Route 28.

Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2027.

👉 Join us for an upcoming public information meeting where DPW staff will provide an overview of the construction plans, project schedule, and what this work means for your neighborhood.
