In June, we bring special attention to the health of older adults by providing information on scams, fraud and abuse. This month, June 3rd, we will have a special speaker, Nadine McSpadden, from Indiana Legal Services. She will be speaking on: Being a Good Neighbor: How to Spot and Respond to Scams and Exploitation in
Your Community Strong communities look out for one another, and one of the most important ways you can look out for a neighbor is knowing how to spot red flags. Join a staff attorney with the LAVA Project (Legal Assistance for Victimized Adults) from Indiana Legal Services to learn the warning signs that someone in your life may have fallen prey to a scam or exploitation, how to approach a neighbor or friend you are concerned about, and where to turn when you think someone needs help.
We will also be presenting on how to protect your Medicare number against scams.
As always this is also a free program of Senior Education Ministries and Oak Village Healthcare will be providing lunch so you need to register by 6/1/26 by emailing [email protected] or calling 812-888-5159 and leaving a message.

I got one of these and fell for it! Luckily I contacted my friend and found it was a scam and changed my password. Be aware and keep your info safe!

Does your loved one attend an adult day care center?
It’s important to stay aware of how their Medicare is being used. Be sure to review their Medicare Summary Notices (MSNs) or Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) for any services that may seem unnecessary—like daily urinalysis testing.
Catching billing issues early can help prevent fraud, errors, and abuse.
