Playing in one of the toughest baseball conferences in Kansas, Myles Ross capped off an outstanding career by helping lead Piper to a 21-7 season while once again proving he was one of the state’s premier players.

The Texas Tech signee was a cornerstone of the Pirates’ success in the loaded United Kansas Conference, a league that routinely features some of the top programs and talent in Kansas. Ross delivered a tremendous senior season, hitting .446 with 37 hits, 24 runs scored, 15 doubles, two triples, one home run, 15 RBIs and six stolen bases. His 15 doubles ranked among the state’s leaders and highlighted his ability to consistently impact games offensively.

What separates Ross is not just his senior season, but the body of work he compiled throughout his time at Piper. Over three seasons with the Pirates, Ross established himself as one of the most consistent players in Class 5A. He finished his Piper career with a .383 batting average, collecting 94 hits, 34 doubles, four triples, two home runs, 44 RBIs and 12 stolen bases while facing some of the toughest competition in Kansas year after year.

Ross was a player opposing coaches always had to account for. His ability to hit for average, drive the baseball into the gaps, play strong defense and provide leadership made him one of the most respected players in the state.

For his outstanding senior season, exceptional three-year career at Piper and leadership of a 21-7 team competing in one of the state’s toughest conferences, Myles Ross is the 2026 Sports in Kansas Class 5A Player of the Year.

Ross finished in a tie in the final voting with Salina Central standout Grayton Gross. Both players will be recognized individually after two exceptional seasons that helped define a loaded Class 5A baseball in 2026.

At the June Board of Education meeting, we celebrated students who earned perfect scores on state assessments, outstanding accomplishments in FCCLA, HOSA, and TSA, Boys Tennis state qualifiers, and an impressive Track & Field season that included conference championships, state medalists, and state champions.

These recognitions showcase the talent, hard work, leadership, and dedication of Piper students across academics, activities, and athletics. We are proud of each and every student honored this month!

💜🏴‍☠️ Way to go, Myles!

Spring feature athlete Myles Ross, a Piper USD 203 baseball standout and Maranatha Christian Academy student who will play collegiately at Texas Tech University, recently received an invite to the Major League Baseball Draft Combine. The testing and evaluation event is scheduled for June 22–27 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona, home of the Diamondbacks.

Ross is one of around 300 players selected for the event and will take part in medical evaluations, athletic testing, on-field workouts, and interviews in front of scouting staff from all 30 MLB teams.

Piper USD 203 was excited to hold our annual Leadership Summit today at Piper High School! The theme for this year's gathering was "Quest for the Cup: One Team. One Vision." Administrators, instructional coaches, counselors, and teachers from all five schools were on hand to reflect upon progress made during the 2025-2026 school year, all while working to develop their school's 2026-2027 building action plans. We are motivated and ready to carry the momentum from this school year into even greater success in 2026-2027!

Please note, the date of next week's Enrollment Event is next Tuesday, June 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Piper Creek Elementary School.

Happy Memorial Day weekend and welcome to summer, ! We hope you have a restful and safe holiday weekend.

Please note that the district office will be closed this Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day. Additionally, summer hours will begin next week. The district office will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and closed on Friday.

What a joyful week celebrating our students and all they’ve accomplished! 🎓✨

From our adorable Pre-K Graduation, to the exciting 8th Grade Promotion, and a special Senior Breakfast honoring the Class of 2026 — each event was filled with pride, laughter, memories, and so much hope for the future.

We are incredibly proud of every student as they reach these important milestones. Thank you to our families, staff, and community for supporting and encouraging them every step of the way.
