Happy Halloween - Have fun celebrating but be sure you keep your pets safe and happy, too!

Keep animals in a safe area while you welcome trick or treaters. Pets may feel overwhelmed by costumes and activities so watch for signs of anxiety. Finally, keep candy and treats away from pets.

If you're afraid your pet has gotten into your candy stash, contact the Pet Poison Helpline at 800-213-6680 or the ASPCA Pet Poison Helpline at 888-426-4435

Cool fact: Great Blue Herons are so intelligent that they have been observed using sticks or bugs to float on the water to get fish to swim closer to the surface.

Animal Control found this Great Blue Heron hanging out dangerously close to Route 3 yesterday. Luckily, he was not injured and we were able to coax him to fly out of harms way.

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION:

Say hello to Autumn! Autumn was trapped as a stray after she was found limping. After the vet examined her and gave her a clean bill of health, this little sweetie is ready to find her forever home. Even though she was a stray, she has zero characteristics of ever being feral. Estimated somewhere between 1 or 2 years old, someone took the time to spay her, but sadly must of left her behind. She is friendly and petite and has the cutest meow I think we've ever heard. She loves a nice warm bed and enjoys lounging on cat towers like it's her full time job. Autumn showed no fear towards dogs while she was at the vet and although hissed when meeting another cat, may be okay with slow introductions. She is spayed, up to date on shots, and microchipped. To apply, find her on Petfinder or under our Facebook links page. Thank you :)

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION:

This is Layla! Layla is a 5 1/2 year old yellow lab with more energy than a happy ferret! She loves playing fetch, is great with other dogs, and knows her commands like a pro, (although she could learn some boundaries about jumping up in people's faces for kisses). Layla's only issue is she is VERY STRONG on walks, but does a lot better with an EZ walk harness. Layla was surrendered to us after multiple loose offenses so we will be requiring a fenced in yard for her. She would love to have a dog brother or sister or a kid over 10 to wrestle with. She would likely be okay with a dog savvy cat as well. Layla is up to date on all her vaccines, spayed, & microchipped. Find Layla on Petfinder or under our Facebook links page to apply! Thanks!

HAVE YOU SEEN ME?

Chip was adopted from us in 2024 and renamed Brinx. Unfortunately, he got outside from his Parting Ways Rd home near Sacred Heart on Thursday 10/22 and his mom Patricia is missing him dearly. Brinx is a neutered male and is microchipped. He is also wearing a white flea collar. Please contact Patricia at 617-688-4473 if seen. Thank you.

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION:

Introducing this bonded pair of ladies, Omelet (black) & Scribble (grey). Omelet & Scribble are 13 year old spayed females that were surrendered to us after their owner was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. They came to us severely matted and as a result, Scribble is currently sporting a lion cut, but her hair will grow back long and beautiful. Omelet was able to get hers fixed up without having to be shaved. They will require regular brushing to ensure the mats do not come back. They are both very sweet cats that don't necessarily seek affection, but will happily accept it. These old gals are looking for a quiet place to land and live out their golden years without concern of what will happen next. These kitties have never been around children or other animals and would be best suited as the only pets in the home. Bonded pair adoption rate will be discussed with potential adopters. To apply, find them on Petfinder or under our links page on Facebook! Thanks!

HOME TO HOME ADOPTION.

PLEASE NOTE THIS DOG IS NOT AT THE SHELTER.

Meet "Truck" a 4 y/o Stafford mixed breed 59lb black and white medium-size dog. Truck is currently in foster care and in dire need of placement as his elderly foster parents are struggling to care for his high energy needs. Truck is crate trained, house trained and knows simple commands including sit, stay, leave it, center and touch. He is well mannered on leash but when he fixates and stares he responds to redirection with treats. He has been in behavioral training for reactivity towards certain breeds of dogs and has responded well to positive reinforcement training. Truck has shown he can interact with other dogs playfully and appropriately and is resource cooperative. He has no issues with families or friends but with strangers he is shy and vocally inappropriate. He has had no interaction with cats or children. Truck is loyal, intelligent, funny, sweet and with encouragement shows off his true personality as a snuggle bug. He would make an amazing pet for someone with patience and who will be consistent with his behavioral training and care. He is in good health, current on all vaccines and no real medical problems although he does take Prozac 40mg daily (easily) for anxiety. (which is $28 for about a 2 month supply). Please contact Frank Kartheiser [email protected] 508-728-4435 or Kendra Kartheiser [email protected] 347-675-8291 for more information. Thank you!
