Metro Drug Coalition (MDC) is a nonprofit organization striving to create a healthy and safe community, free of substance misuse. Our goal is to increase access to evidence-based prevention education, harm reduction programs and recovery support services for anyone desiring to maintain or seek a life free from substance misuse. Through community collaborative efforts, we can all strengthen families and prevent future generations from the devastating consequences of addiction. This project is funded by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

Our Save a Life Team and Prevention Coordinator Ashley had a busy week at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville!

They provided overdose prevention trainings to the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and University of Tennessee College of Social Work students, and participated in Fright Night Done Right hosted by Center for Health Education and Wellness and Rocky Top Recovery. We're proud to educate, connect, and share resources with students all across campus! 🧡🤍

The Knoxville City Council is in on Red Ribbon Week festivities!❤️

Our Director of Prevention, Bethany Lemons, had the chance to meet with our City Council and Mayor Indya Kincannon! They wore red ribbons through the meeting to proudly display their support for a drug-free Knoxville!

Knox County Commission Celebrates Red Ribbon Week!

At the conclusion of their Knox County B**r Board meeting, County Commissioners gathered to take a Red Ribbon Week photo with Bethany Lemons, MDC’s Director of Prevention Services.
Commissioners are wearing their red ribbons throughout the commission meeting tonight to showcase their devotion to youth drug prevention.

We teamed up with Knoxville Police Department - TN and Knoxville Fire Department - TN to promote medication safety and provide a safe way to dispose of medications through our local Drug Takeback event!

Thanks to the support of our Knox County community, we collected 417.9 pounds of medication! 🎊 Through our takeback events, we can continue to help families and households stay safe. Look out for our next takeback event coming in April!

Red Ribbon Week officially starts...now!❤️
Red Ribbon Week is a nationwide campaign for communities and their youth to take a stand against substance use. Our talented Youth Metro Drug Coalition (YMDC) members created a helpful guide to give the rundown on all things Red Ribbon Week. Find out how our youth are getting involved at their schools across Knoxville!
