Remember safety first! If your family plans on celebrating Halloween this fall, here are a few tips for a fun and safe time. Never leave your child unattended and make sure to wear light or reflective colors on the costumes and/or candy bags. Put a nametag, with your phone number, on your child’s costume and candy bag. Adults, drive extra safely in residential areas and get rid of any distraction, like phones. Don’t forget there are various local festivals and trunk or treats in our area if you want to stay in one spot!

EEK! SPOTTED A SPIDER? DON'T GET SPOOKED - GET THE FACTS!

Not every eight legged creature is cause for concern! Our Integrated Pest Management (IPM) team is here to help ease your spider scares.

The good news? Many spiders in Nevada are harmless garden allies that help keep mosquitoes, flies, and other pests in check!
Can you spot the helpful spider(s)? Take a guess in the comments!

This Halloween season trade the fright for a little spider insight! Check out our latest blog post to discover which spiders are your garden’s little defenders and which ones deserve a little extra caution. https://extension.unr.edu/publication.aspx?PubID=8683

We just wrapped up our second year hosting Southern Nevada Farm Fest! Over two days, third through fifth grade students across Clark County dove into hands-on learning, from observing horse grooming and ground roping to investigating local agriculture, robotics, and interacting with farm animals. Thank you to the Nevada Agricultural Foundation for being our Champion Sponsor.

We want to extend a huge thank you to all our incredible partners and presenters who made this educational journey possible: Nevada Farm Bureau Federation, Nevada Department of Agriculture, Las Vegas Worm Farm, Nevada Dairy Farmers & Dairy Council of Nevada, Compass Group, The Obodo Collective, Inc. Semper Fi Homestead, the Ritchie Brothers, Desert Pines Equine Medical and Surgical Center, Las Vegas Livestock, STEMbotics Learning Center, Green Our Planet, Las Vegas Fiber Arts Guild, Las Vegas Metro Police, Winward Farms, Brittany and Kasey Jones, Nicole Curtis, our local high school and junior high rodeo teams, Las Vegas High School Rodeo, Boulder City High School Rodeo, Moapa Valley High School Rodeo Club, and Escaramuza Charra Colibríes de Nevada.

Thank you for helping us connect students to where their food comes from and inspiring the next generation of Nevada agriculture! 🌾🚜
