From prehistoric creatures to fabulous showgirls, explore the story of Nevada and Las Vegas. The museum is open Thursday to Monday, 9am - 4pm.

Tickets are required for non members for entry - book here: https://bit.ly/3cS7Eba. Members can show their membership cards on entry. The Nevada State Museum offers an interactive visitor experience that interprets the history of Nevada dating back millions of years to the present. Across a 13,000 square-foot permanent exhibit gallery visitors will find how geology shaped the Great Basin and Nevada, learn of the early flora and fauna that roamed this once great sea. Hear the story of Native Americans, pioneers, early settlers, miners, railroaders, ranchers and entrepreneurs. Learn about the Hoover Dam, the atomic era and the rise of Las Vegas as the resort capital of the world. The museum also features a research library, educational labs and a store.

The ofrenda will be on view October 30–November 7, and community members are invited to contribute photos, keepsakes, and other mementos of remembrance. Please bring contributions to the museum on October 29. Items will be available for pick-up on November 9. Please note that we cannot accept live plants or perishable items.⁠

Bring your students to the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas for a hands-on learning experience aligned with K–12 Nevada Academic Content Standards in Social Studies and Science.⁠

All school field trips include free admission for students, teachers, and chaperones, with exhibits that highlight Nevada’s natural environment and cultural history.⁠

Groups visiting the Nevada State Museum will be welcomed at the entrance with a brief orientation. Entry is limited to 50 students at a time, and all students must remain under the supervision of teachers or designated chaperones throughout the visit.⁠

CCSD public and magnet schools may be eligible for bus reimbursement to visit a state museum. Funds are limited and distributed on a first come, first served basis. ⁠

The museum will put a festive twist on its popular Discovery Saturdays program with special “Gingerbread” House Workshops, inviting families to create and decorate their own holiday keepsakes. Unlike traditional gingerbread houses, these creations are made from cardboard, offering an allergen-free alternative that children of all ages can enjoy. Decorative supplies are also provided.

In addition to the pre-assembled "Gingerbread" Houses, unassembled to-go kits are available for $10 each, while supplies last. Each kit includes cardboard gingerbread house pieces and decorating materials. “Gingerbread” Houses are available for purchase in the museum's Education Room. Families can complete their creations at the museum or take their kits home. These make great gifts! No advance registration is required.
