With a historic mansion filled with an incomparable collection, original outbuildings, gardens, official arboretum, historic paths, museum store, and seasonal café, Ashland offers an experience of wonder and discovery. Highly rated guided tours focus on various aspects of the estate’s history: Henry Clay and his legacy, slavery at Ashland, and the women of Ashland. Founded in 1926 and operated as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) by the Henry Clay Memorial Foundation, the museum opened its doors to the public in 1950. From Henry Clay’s lifetime to ours today, Ashland has been a community and national treasure.

🗳️ This Election Day, remember the women who helped make our right to vote possible!

Ashland’s history is connected to Madeline McDowell Breckinridge, a prominent Kentucky suffragist and great-granddaughter of Henry Clay, who championed women’s voting rights. Today, Ashland is recognized on the National Votes for Women Trail, honoring the people and places that helped advance women’s suffrage. 💜🤍💛

As you head to the polls, take a moment to reflect on the history behind your right to vote. 🇺🇸

👕A little history, a little humor, and a whole lot of irony! Make a statement with Ashland’s “Vote Whig – They Couldn’t Possibly Be Worse” t-shirt! 😂

Featuring a tongue-in-cheek nod to the Whig Party founded by Henry Clay in 1833, this shirt celebrates a piece of American political history, with notable Whigs including Daniel Webster, Millard Fillmore, John Quincy Adams, and Abraham Lincoln. Perfect for history buffs, political junkies, or anyone who appreciates a little historical humor!
