Manitowoc Lincoln Park Zoo Welcome to the Manitowoc Lincoln Park Zoo and The Lincoln Park Zoological Society's page!

The mission of the Lincoln Park Zoological Society is to assist and support the City's efforts to maintain an ethical, high quality public zoo. Towards that end we will educate zoo visitors, provide Manitowoc County with a diverse array of North American native animals and improve the living conditions and habitat for animals at the zoo. Lincoln Park Zoo Boo Event to be Held October 17th, 2026

Manitowoc’s Lincoln Park Zoo invites families to have a howling good time at its annual Halloween Zoo Boo event on Saturday, October 17th from 1 to 4 p.m.

The event will feature fun activities for all ages, including a costume contest, games, animal enrichment demonstrations (so the animals can get in on the fun too), and a safe trick-or-treating experience throughout the main loop of the zoo courtesy of some local organizations. Concessions will be available for sale by HP Enterprises during the event.

A $1 admission fee per person will be collected at the entrance to the zoo. Games will be located behind the Education Center, with tickets available for 50 cents each. Participants will be able to exchange tokens earned from the games for prizes.

A costume contest will take place near the playground throughout the event. Zoo staff will photograph participants, and photos will be posted on the Manitowoc Lincoln Park Zoo’s page following the event. For a $2 entry fee, participants can compete for the grand prize, which will be awarded to the costume photo receiving the most likes and comments. Voting will remain open through November 1st.

During fall, the Lincoln Park Zoo is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Winter hours begin November 1st.

WINTERIZING OF CITY OF MANITOWOC PARK RESTROOMS

Although the weather can still be beautiful this time of year, the City of Manitowoc Parks Division will begin the process of winterizing drinking fountains, as well as closing and winterizing many of the park restrooms, this week. Early closures are necessary in order to properly winterize multiple facilities before colder temperatures arrive.

Due to recreational activities in the parks, six public restroom areas will remain open all winter:
• Halvorsen Park;
• Lighthouse Park;
• Lincoln Park Cabin #1 public restrooms;
• Lincoln Park Zoo;
• Manitou Park; and
• Silver Creek Fieldhouse public restrooms.

In addition, the Parks Division would like to keep the following restrooms open as long as weather permits:
• Lincoln Park Concession Stand; and
• Rheaume Park.
Conditions such as accumulating snow and/or ice will cause the restrooms to be closed for the season.

The Parks Division expects the remainder of all restrooms to be closed on or before the end of the day on Friday, October 30th, except for the Citizen Park Concession Stand restrooms (by ball diamond #2), which will close approximately November 13th due to scheduled softball games.

Until the water is turned back on in spring, a portable toilet will be available for use at upper Henry Schuette Park, as there is no furnace in the restroom building.

Contact the City of Manitowoc – Parks & Recreation Department at (920) 686-3580 for more details or find additional information about parks by visiting www.manitowoc.org/parks, following the Manitowoc Parks and Recreation Department or City of Manitowoc on Facebook, or by visiting www.manitowoc.org/notifyme and signing up to receive important information via text message or email. Friday Fun Fact. Badgers live in underground tunnel networks called setts. These can be simple, single-chamber dens or vast, century-old labyrinths passed down through generations of the same social clan.

Friday Fun Fact. Raccoons often dip their food in water. This is not for cleanliness, but because water dramatically increases the nerve responsiveness in their paws, giving them detailed sensory information about their meal.
