Marlborough Conservation Commission Mission:
The Conservation Commission's mission is to protect the natural resources of Marlborough, including both the wetlands and natural open spaces.

Tasks include administering the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, undertaking land acquisition, managing conservation land, and offering public education and participation on environmental issues. Open space increases the quality of life for all residents: a healthy environment provides clean water, clean air, recreation, and increased property values. Protecting land around water supplies helps to keep our drinking water clean. The Commission permits and oversees the construction of projects within 100 feet of wetlands, or 200 feet from rivers, to ensure that the wetlands are protected from siltation or contamination due to the adjacent construction. Members:
The Conservation Commission is a seven (7) member board of dedicated volunteers appointed by the Mayor. Meetings:
The Commission meets the first and third Thursdays of every month starting at 7:00 pm.

Overview
Enjoy the great fall views and a variety of birds on the move.
A top birding destination in any season, Horn Pond combines many different habitats in a convenient loop - including a community garden, a large pond and several smaller bodies of water. The Horn Pond Recreation Area spans approximately 633 acres and offers a range of habitats, including wetlands, woodlands, open water, and meadows. This diverse ecosystem supports rich biodiversity, attracting a wide variety of bird species year-round. We’ll meet at the Horn Pond Sturgis Street Boat Launch to begin our morning (https://maps.app.goo.gl/zY5ZucS4DbfqEzzS8). Parking is available along Sturgis Street with a few additional spots in the lot that contains the boat launch.
Limited loaner binoculars available. Beginners are always welcome!
Please dress for the weather and bring water. No facilities are available at Horn Pond.
