Dove: Sept. 1-15 & Nov. 14 - Dec. 28

The City of Merced Parks & Community Services Department is looking for dedicated volunteers to join our Jr. NBA/WNBA Youth Basketball Program for the upcoming January–March season!

Coaching is about more than basketball. It’s an opportunity to help young athletes build confidence, develop teamwork, learn leadership skills, and create positive memories that last beyond the court.

We still need Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches for the following divisions:
Kindergarten
JV Boys
Varsity Girls
Tiny Tots (TT) Girls
Rookie Girls

Whether you have years of basketball experience or simply enjoy working with youth, we encourage you to get involved and make a difference in our community!

Volunteer Commitment:
Approximately 2–4 hours per week
Practice and game schedules may vary
Background check and screening questions required
Coach training opportunities may be available

Registration is NOW OPEN for the City of Merced Parks & Community Services 2027 Adult Basketball League!

Get your team together and get ready for a competitive season of basketball. Spots are limited, so don’t wait to secure your place on the court!

LEAGUE DETAILS
Eligibility: Men ages 18 and older who are out of high school
Player Restrictions: No current or former collegiate or professional players
Season: Mid-January through mid-April 2027
Game Days: Sundays only
Location: El Capitan High School and Merced High School gymnasiums
Team Fee: $650, paid in full to guarantee your spot
Season Format: 10 games guaranteed, plus playoffs
Team Limit: First come, first served — only 24 teams!

IMPORTANT DATES
Registration closes December 18, 2026, or earlier if the league fills.
Mandatory Managers Meeting: January 5, 2027, at 6:15 PM
Location: Sam Pipes Room, 678 W. 18th Street, Merced.

Locally harvested diseased trees for adventure play in playgrounds, Yes Please!

Logs are repurposed Deodar Cedar originally from Applegate Park in Merced. They will continue to serve our community as playground components for years to come.

Lots of movement going on at General Vang Pao Park over the next two weeks in preparation for our Ribbon Cutting on Saturday, November 7th at 1:00pm.
