As Millington, TN City Manager, I hereby declare lumpia the official food of Millington.

Actually, I’m pretty sure I don’t have the authority to do that. I checked with Mayor Dagen, and his official response was:

“Kain na!”

Also, that we’d have to get Board approval…

But now that I’ve got your attention.

Join us today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Baker Community Center for Kasayahan sa Millington, our first-ever Filipino Festival!

Millington is home to one of the largest Filipino-American communities this side of the Mississippi. For generations, the Fil-Am Millington community has enriched our city, strengthened our neighborhoods, served our nation, and helped make Millington what it is today.

Enjoy authentic Filipino food and sweets, live music, crafts, food demonstrations, and free admission.

🐾 FOUND DOG 🐾

A Good Samaritan alerted city authorities about this young lady, and she is now safe in the care of our city kennels. Officer Keeton and Officer Calhoun are looking out for her now. So she’s in good hands.

If this is your dog, please contact the Millington Police Department at (901) 872-3333.

If an owner is not identified, she will be transferred within 24–48 hours to our partners at Memphis Animal Services for continued care and adoption placement.

Please help us get the word out by sharing this post.

Join us as we celebrate a new chapter at the Millington Public Library!

The Millington Public Library will host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for its new Outdoor Classroom on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 12:00 p.m.

Thanks to funding provided by the City of Millington Board of Mayor and Aldermen and Xfinity, this new outdoor learning space was created to support the library's growing youth and family programs while also providing a welcoming community space for all residents to enjoy.

Following the ribbon cutting, the library will kick off its 2026 Summer Reading Program with a special event where participants will help unearth the library's very own dinosaur!

We invite the entire community to come celebrate this exciting addition and learn more about the programs and opportunities available through the Millington Public Library.

Over Memorial Day weekend, our community gathered at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery for Millington’s annual Memorial Day ceremony hosted by American Legion Post 252.

We want to thank Alderman Thomas McGhee and Post 252 for continuing to lead this important tradition each year. For Alderman McGhee, members of Post 252, Mayor Larry Dagen, and the volunteers who joined them, the work started in the days before as flags were carefully placed throughout the cemetery in honor of our fallen service members.

Thank you to Representative Ed Haley for delivering the keynote remarks honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice and reminding all of us of the responsibility we share to carry their memory forward. We also appreciate the Shelby County Sheriff's Office for helping document the event through photographs for our community.

Millington is proud of our military heritage. Our community understands all too well the hole that remains when neighbors, friends, and loved ones do not come home. Because of the sacrifices made by these brave men and women, we continue to enjoy the freedoms we hold dear and remain deeply grateful for their service.

Knowing who to call in a difficult moment can make all the difference.

Call or text 988 if you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, emotional distress, or thoughts of su***de. You'll be connected with trained counselors who are there to listen, support, and help de-escalate the situaion.

Call 911 if there is an immediate danger to life, a medical emergency, or a situation that requires urgent police, fire, or EMS response. Both services are here to help, but for different needs. Understanding the difference can ensure the right kind of support is provided at the right time. Let's continue to look out for one another and share resources that can save lives.
