1 in 5 Missoulians utilize the food bank during the year. That's why Can the Cats matters!

Picking up a few extra cans during your next grocery trip is a simple way to help keep shelves stocked for neighbors across our community all year long. Every contribution adds up, and every can counts!

If you've walked through the front doors at MFB&CC, there's a good chance Sandy was one of the first people to welcome you!

As a Front Desk volunteer, Sandy helps customers navigate the intake process, answers questions, and keeps things running smoothly during some of our busiest hours. A friendly face and a knowledgeable guide can make a big difference, and Sandy brings both to every shift!

Thank you, Sandy, for sharing your time, care, and commitment with our customers and staff. We're grateful to have you on the team.

Our Grab & Go Bags offer a quick and convenient option for customers who don't have time to shop or would rather pick up a pre-packed selection of groceries! Each bag contains a variety of food items and is ready to go when customers need it.

Providing different ways to access food helps us meet people where they are and ensure neighbors have options that work for their schedules and needs!

Need of the Week: Laundry Soap!

Laundry soap is one of the household essentials our customers request most often. Donations of laundry soap help ensure it is available for customers as they shop for the foods and household products that work best for them.

Interested in helping? Consider adding a bottle of laundry soap to your next shopping trip and dropping it off at MFB&CC.

A friendly face and an extra set of hands can make all the difference at the end of a shopping trip.

Often the last volunteers customers see before they leave, our boxers help customers pack groceries, organize carts, and ensure groceries are safe and ready to go home!

Thank you to our volunteer boxers for all they do to support our customers each day. After all, boxing is harder than it looks when the eggs are always fighting for the top spot!

This week, we're shining a spotlight on Carrie, who has been volunteering for MFB&CC and EmPower Place for the last 8 years!

When asked about her favorite part of volunteering, Carrie didn't hesitate: "Playing with children, hands down!" If you've spent time in EmPower Place, that answer probably doesn't surprise you. Carrie brings a playful energy to the space and helps make it a welcoming place for children and families.

Outside of volunteering, Carrie enjoys reading good books, acting in local theater productions, and enjoying a good salad!

Thank you, Carrie, for sharing your time, enthusiasm, and care with the families who visit EmPower Place. We're lucky to have you as part of the MFB&CC volunteer team!

Each year, kids, families, schools, and community groups collect food and donations during Trick or' Treat So Missoula Eats (TOTSME) to stock the shelves at Missoula Food Bank & Community Center.

Helping keep hunger on the run, one spooky season at a time, the food and funds raised through TOTSME support customers throughout the holiday season, when demand for food assistance is often at its highest!

By turning Halloween fun into practical community action, participants help keep nutritious food available across Missoula County. That's some scary good support for local neighbors! University of Montana and Davidson Honors College - The University of Montana - DHC

Scout your shelves! Recruit for Team Griz!

As you're putting away groceries or hunting for a quick dinner, keep an eye out for a few Team Griz all-stars: peanut butter, canned tuna, mac & cheese, dry or canned beans, dry cereal, chicken soup, oatmeal, and canned ravioli.

These are some of the items customers reach for most often, and they'll help Team Griz put points on the board when Can the Cats kicks off November 7th-21st!

So, if you spot any future MVPs hanging out in the back of the pantry, consider moving them from the bench to the starting lineup. Every pound counts for the Griz!
