Summer is here! ☀️ And though we're ready for some fun in the sun, we're also acutely aware of the barriers that arrive when school lets out.
When that final bell rings and summer vacation begins, many families are left with the stress of finding accessible child care options for their little ones. Child care is a major expense for families all over the country — in Tennessee, child care costs more on average than in-state college tuition! With those challenges in mind, Safe Haven makes a dedicated effort to show up for our families with activities for kids of all ages throughout the summer.
Some ways we support families in the summer are:
☀️ Helping families find childcare options that fit their specific needs
☀️ Hosting weekly activities for kids at Community Care Fellowship
☀️ Creating "adventure boxes" that provide engaging activities for the whole family to participate in together
Thank you for joining us in walking alongside families this summer and supporting parents and children in our community!

At Safe Haven, we know that home changes everything.
When you give to Safe Haven, you are contributing to a family's next chapter. You are joining us in walking with families on their journey to permanent, stable housing. Your monthly gift can make a huge impact in supporting Safe Haven's mission and supporting every parent and child in finding a safe place to call home.
When you join our monthly giving community by June 15th, you can receive a free Safe Haven tote bag as a thank you and a reminder that you are part of something bigger: neighbors helping neighbors.

We are so grateful to be a recipient of one of Nashville Predators Foundation's Helper Grants! We had an amazing time yesterday coming together with grant recipients from all around Tennessee to celebrate all the great work going on in our communities.
Thank you again to the Predators Foundation for giving back to our community and partnering with us to make an impact for families experiencing homelessness in Middle Tennessee. Together, we can support more families on their journey to find a safe place to call home.

Happy Mother's Day! 🌷❤️
Today, we honor all the mothers in our community, including those whose stories are not always seen or told. As Safe Haven's Chief Operations Officer Jennifer Reason shared in Tennessean this week, it is crucial for all of us to come together to make sure these mothers' stories are told, to end stigma around family homelessness and domestic violence and to support mothers in our community so every family has what they need to thrive.

We had such a beautiful morning at the 2nd Annual Breakfast for Safe Haven last Tuesday! ☀️
We gathered over the breakfast table with Safe Haven supporters, neighbors, staff, and community partners to share stories, celebrate wins, and dig deeper into how we can address family homelessness in our city.
It's incredibly powerful to be in a room with so many people who are fired up and empowered to make their community a place where every family has what they need to thrive. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this event so magical!
If you missed out on the Breakfast but want to contribute to Safe Haven's mission, consider making a donation at bit.ly/shfsbreakfast. Every gift supports a family on their journey to a safe place to call home. ❤️

This week is Volunteer Appreciation Week, so it's only fitting that we had the opportunity to present the SOAR Award for Volunteer Excellence at Breakfast for Safe Haven on Tuesday!
Longtime volunteer and Safe Haven supporter Henry Bedford presented the award to Tomeka Foster, Terrance Powell and Sadie Malham for their service and dedication to our Welcome Home initiative over the past year.
Almost every Thursday, you can catch these three loading up trucks with household essentials to help families move into their new homes! They have been a crucial part of helping families make smooth transitions into permanent housing by bringing warmth and comfort into houses and apartments before a family even steps through the door. Thank you so much to Tomeka, Tee and Sadie!
