🚑 Working Together to Shape the Future of Healthcare in Berkshire County!
Northern Berkshire EMS (NBEMS) was pleased to participate in an important conversation hosted by our colleagues at County Ambulance Service, welcoming Massachusetts Secretary of Health and Human Services Dr. Kiame Mahaniah to Berkshire County.
This discussion highlighted the importance of expanding Mobile Integrated Health (MIH), behavioral health services, and community-based healthcare initiatives throughout Berkshire County. These innovative approaches represent significant opportunities to improve healthcare access, address gaps in services, and better meet the needs of our communities.
At NBEMS, we are actively working to advance many of these initiatives throughout Northern Berkshire County. We believe EMS has an increasingly important role to play beyond traditional emergency response by providing proactive, community-based care, connecting patients with appropriate resources, and helping prevent avoidable emergency department visits.
The future of EMS and healthcare in Berkshire County depends on collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to the health and well-being of the communities we serve.
We appreciate the leadership and collaboration of our regional partners, including the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission (BRPC), Berkshire Health Systems, The Brien Center, local and state officials, and fellow EMS providers. Bringing these organizations together is essential as we work toward sustainable solutions to the unique healthcare challenges facing Berkshire County.
We look forward to continuing these partnerships and ensuring that the needs of Northern Berkshire County and our entire region remain part of the statewide conversation.
