I had a great time participating in Career Day at Charles R. Drew K-8 Center!

A special thank you to my tour guide, London, for showing me around and making the visit so memorable. It was a pleasure meeting so many bright students and sharing my journey in public service.

As we reflect on Haitian Heritage Month, I am grateful for the opportunity to celebrate the culture and contributions of the Haitian community throughout North Miami and Miami-Dade County.

One of the highlights of the month was welcoming Haiti’s National Football Team, Les Grenadiers, to North Miami as they continue their historic journey to the FIFA World Cup. Seeing our community come together to celebrate Haitian pride and support our national team was truly a special moment.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the many events and celebrations throughout the month. Haitian Heritage Month may be over, but our pride in our culture, history, and community continues year-round.

Last night, District 2 showed up and showed out 😊😊

The energy at the North Miami Public Library reminded me of exactly why this work matters.

I had the opportunity to share everything we’ve accomplished this past year — from new businesses and workforce development to safer streets, housing grants, health initiatives, and free family programming. A lot has happened, and even more is on the way.

To everyone who came out, thank you. Nights like these remind me that real progress happens when people stay engaged and invested in their own community. This is your district, and you show up for it every time. 💙

The story of District 2 is still being written….

It was an honor to welcome Les Grenadiers and see so many residents come out to meet the players and show their support for Haiti’s National Team ⚽️

This moment is even more special as Haiti prepares to compete in the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1974, a historic achievement more than 50 years in the making.

Thank you to the Consulate General of Haiti in Miami, City leadership, and everyone who came out to celebrate this historic moment.

Small Business Spotlight: Haitian Heritage Month Edition 🇭🇹

This Haitian Heritage Month, I’m proud to spotlight 1804 Haitian Pizza & Cafe, a local business bringing the rich flavors and culture of Haiti right here to North Miami.

Known for their unique Haitian-inspired pizzas, including griyo, seafood, and other Caribbean specialties, 1804 Pizza has created a space where culture, community, and cuisine come together. Their menu celebrates Haitian tradition while adding a creative twist that has made them a local favorite.

As we celebrate Haitian Heritage Month, I encourage everyone to continue supporting the Haitian-owned businesses that contribute so much to the culture and spirit of our city.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, I want to remind our community that taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health. 💚

No one should feel alone in their struggles, and there is strength in asking for help, checking in on loved ones, and creating space for honest conversations. Let’s continue to support one another, lead with compassion, and break the stigma surrounding mental health.
