The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, mutual-help, war-time veterans organization. Our regular membership meeting is on the second Tuessay of the month at 6:00 pm

Dear Legionnaires, Auxiliary, and Sons of The American Legion,

Thank you for your continued support of Howard Gardner Post 85 in Palestine, TX. Your dedication enables us to uphold the four pillars of The American Legion—Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism, and Children & Youth—and serve our local veterans and families.

Upcoming Post Meeting

- Date & Time: Tuesday, September 8th at 5:30 PM (Potluck dinner; meeting begins at 6:30 PM)
- Location: Knights of Columbus Hall (small building), 110 N Line St, Palestine, TX

We encourage all members to attend, share ideas, and stay updated on our upcoming projects. Please feel free to invite local non-member veterans as guests.

Membership & Renewals
If you have not yet renewed your annual dues, please do so online or at the upcoming meeting. Maintaining your membership helps ensure we can effectively advocate for veteran benefits at the state and national levels.

Post Updates & Activities

- September 11th – Spaghetti Fundraiser: Join us at Robinson Hall (410 Avenue A, Palestine, TX). Volunteers are needed for setup, cooking, serving, and cleanup.
- September 24th – Meals on Wheels Breakfast: Open to all veterans starting at 8:00 AM at 200 N Church St, Palestine, TX.
- September 25th – Chick-fil-A Breakfast: Free for all veterans from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM at 1940 TX-256 Loop, Palestine, TX.

A bowling tournament being held in Palestine this Sunday will raise money to help veterans receive treatment for traumatic brain injuries and PTSD.

ALL: Official Written Notice. Changes were made to the Constitution and By-Laws by the Post Executive Committee on 10 August 26 and read at the regular post meeting on 11 August 26. Notice to all members is then required prior to a vote. Therefore we will vote on the C&BL at the next regularly scheduled meeting on 8 September 2026
