📣 COULD CHEERLEADING BE COMING TO PEMBROKE REC?! 💙💚
As we start looking ahead to basketball season, we’ve been exploring the possibility of adding youth cheerleading to Pembroke Recreation!
This is something we’ve actually been looking into pretty seriously. We’ve already started researching uniforms, pom-poms, bows, equipment, costs, and what it would take to put together a fun and affordable recreational cheer program. We’ve even been working on some Pembroke cheer uniform ideas!
But before we go any further, there’s one pretty important thing we need to know…
Do we have enough kids interested to make it happen?
Right now, this is NOT registration and cheerleading has NOT officially been added. We’re simply trying to gauge interest before committing to the program or purchasing equipment.
The idea would be a recreational sideline cheer program to go along with our upcoming basketball season. We’re currently considering grades K–7th, with age divisions and the number of squads depending entirely on participation. No previous cheer experience would be necessary!
If we decide to move forward, our goal is to do it the same way we’ve tried to approach everything else with Pembroke Recreation — keep it affordable, make it fun, and give our kids something they can be proud to be a part of.
Cheerleaders would have Pembroke uniforms, bows and pom-poms, learn cheers and routines, practice together, and cheer on our Pembroke basketball teams throughout the season. I would like to add that I do not have a set registration price, however I do anticipate it being a higher price than the other sports offered through Pembroke Rec. Somewhere around $75-100 is my target price. Our cheerleaders will get to keep their uniforms, bows and pom poms though!! 📣🏀
We’ve been working hard to continue adding opportunities for our kids, but I also don’t want to start a program just to say we have one. If we’re going to do it, I want to do it right — and I want to know the participation is there first.
So parents, if you have a child who would be interested in Pembroke Rec Cheerleading, please fill out the short interest form below! Filling it out does not commit you to anything. It simply gives us an idea of how many potential cheerleaders we have out there. Please note that this form IS a registration form, however initially it will only let us know if the numbers are there. If in the case that you guys show up and this becomes a reality you will only need to confirm your interest and not fill out another form.
And please share this post! The more families we hear from, the better idea we’ll have of whether it’s time to bring cheerleading to Pembroke. 💙💚
