Early detection can make a difference, and we're bringing important cancer screening services right here to Northeast Philadelphia.

I'm proud to partner with Rep. Pat Gallagher, Dietz & Watson and Jefferson Health’s Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center to offer two upcoming screening opportunities for our neighbors.

📆 Thursday, November 12 | Prostate Screenings
⏰ 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

📆 Monday, November 16 | Mammograms
⏰ 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
📍 8760 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19136

Mammogram appointments are limited. Please contact Representative Gallagher's office at 215-281-3414 for more information or to reserve a screening time.

Taking care of your health matters. Please share this information with family, friends and neighbors who may benefit.

Let's come together to help our neighbors in need!

Our 6th District office is collecting donations for The Preston & Steve Show 2026 Camp Out for Hunger and we could use your help!

This annual food drive brings the Philadelphia community together to fight hunger and support local families facing food insecurity.

From November 16 through 20, Preston & Steve and 93.3 WMMR will once again be rallying the region to make a difference.
If you'd like to contribute, you can drop off nonperishable food donations at our district office: : 7552 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia.

Every donation, big or small, helps!
Let's show what Northeast Philly can do when we come together for a good cause!

Changes to Medicaid are coming in January 2027, and some residents may need to take steps to protect their health coverage.

If you receive Medicaid through Keystone First, Geisinger Health Plan Family, Jefferson Health Plans EverWell, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Pennsylvania or UPMC for You, it's important to stay informed.
Here are a few things you can do now:

✅ Make sure your mailing address is up to date with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services.
✅ Update your address with the U.S. Postal Service if you've recently moved.
✅ Create or log into your COMPASS account and sign up for important benefits alerts.

For more information about the upcoming changes and what they could mean for your coverage, visit: https://www.dhs.pa.gov/COMPASS

Don't wait until there's a problem with your coverage. Take a few minutes to review your information, and please share this with family, friends and neighbors who may be affected.

A little Halloween fun at The Tacony LAB Community Arts Center. 🎃

I enjoyed joining Rep. Pat Gallagher to recognize the winner of Tacony LAB's scarecrow contest! It's always great to see our young neighbors getting creative and having fun with community activities.

Congratulations to our winner, and thanks to everyone at Tacony LAB for making this a fun fall tradition!

CLS is incredibly grateful for the recognition we received from City Council yesterday in honor of our 60th anniversary. Thank you to Councilmember (and CLS alum) Councilmember Rue Landau and Council President Kenyatta Johnson for introducing this resolution, and for the many members of City Council who sponsored it: Councilman Anthony Phillips, Councilmember Katherine Gilmore Richardson, Councilmember Jamie Gauthier, Councilmember Curtis Jones, Jr., Councilmember Jeffery Young, Jr., Councilmember Kendra Brooks, Councilmember Nicolas O'Rourke, Councilmember Mike Driscoll, and Councilmember Squilla.

Throughout the last 60 years, City Council has been an important partner in our work to fight for justice, and we are proud of everything we have accomplished together, including the Philadelphia Eviction Prevention Project, programs to make utilities and property taxes more affordable, our wills and tangled titles work, and efforts to break down barriers to employment.

This acknowledgement from City Council is truly an honor, and we are excited to keep working with you to fight for justice and to make our city better and stronger. Thank you for your support!

Looking for a way to give back to the community while meeting your public benefits work requirements?

Feast of Justice is offering volunteer opportunities at its food pantry that may help individuals meet work requirements for SNAP or Medicaid, depending on their eligibility. Volunteers can help support local families while gaining valuable experience and making a difference in the neighborhood.

Opportunities include flexible shifts Monday through Saturday, with some evening and Sunday availability. Part-time and full-time schedules are offered, and there are roles for people of all ability levels.

If you're concerned about how new work requirements may affect your benefits, this is a resource worth looking into.

Have some old paperwork piling up or electronics you need to get rid of? We've got an event coming up to help you clear out some clutter!

Join me, Rep. Joe Hohenstein, Congressman Brendan Boyle and Councilmember Rue Landau for a Paper Shredding and E-Recycling Event in the neighborhood.

It's a great opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted documents and recycle old electronics.

📆 Saturday, October 24
⏰ 10 a.m. to 12 noon

Unfortunately, tonight's Halloween Trunk or Treat at Roosevelt Playground has been canceled due to the severe storms expected in our area.

We know families were looking forward to a fun evening, but everyone's safety comes first.

Thank you to Roosevelt Playground and Tacony Town Watch for all the work they put into planning this event.

Please help spread the word, and everyone stay safe tonight!

Our neighborhood parks are better when we all pitch in! 🍂

Love Your Park Fall Weekend is coming up November 13 through 15, and parks across Philadelphia are looking for volunteers to help keep our green spaces clean and welcoming.
Whether it's raking leaves, picking up litter, planting trees or getting our parks ready for winter, even a few hours of your time can make a difference.

📆 November 13–15, 2026
📍 More than 100 parks across Philadelphia
It's a great opportunity to get outside, meet your neighbors and give back to the parks we all enjoy.

Find a participating park near you and sign up to volunteer at: https://loveyourpark.org/events/lyp-fall-2026.
